yes I understand your outlook patj - Bos's maisy runs are penetrating, we/he just needs lanes/support available to push the ball for a finish to me.
Toure/Irakunda or Kuol need to read his forward play so they can run behind the defense meet the ball to have a crack to goal.

come on Farrell lacks experience despite him being a good player that I agree - Bos smokes LWB especially quoting to be explosive in attack.
If were looking to be defensively and that we will as we know got to have Bos on the pitch full stop.
once a player has been injured for 18 months it is anyones guess if they ever get back to the quality the were before let alone their ceiling

if he never got injured he could have done very, very well. Now unfortunately his trajectory is anyone's guess

yes absolutely agree, long time recovery and hence even more he's not ready by June thats for sure imo.
Some get back to their pre injury form some not so thats still in the air as well.
I'd be amazed he's picked that under done anyway.

If he gets solid game at Pompey I suspect he will be in. Not for March but for the WC squad. Solid game time between now and the squad selection means that he has recovered. Patchy means he hasn't and is out of the equation. A preliminary larger squad will probably be announced in mid-late April with a final 26 man squad required by FIFA by May 25th - likely announced in the days before possibly 24th -the members will probably already know their fate.

Look at the game analysis I gave before. Bos is all maisy runs - great for the unexpected but we need to flip the script. I'm not looking to sit deep - I'm looking to break quickly and target Richards with pace and specific tactics. We play defensively and we will lose -even with Bos playing. We need to play to our strengths. assuming injury recoveries that means a very solid back three, a speedy and versatile front three and a midfield that can connect the two - something we have been sorely missing.

We do this right and we win and the US will lose the next game because the UEFA team would have seen the template we used.
Bos is not just maisy runs. He has end product and defends well too.

If anything I tempered my bias by not having Nisbet start. But Irvine and Metcalfe are both very intelligent footballers that should fit in seamlessly whether as starters or subs.

Farrell has been pushed in training by the Portsmouth medical staff. He had a MCL strain but they passed him as fit and he broke down a couple of times because he came back early. They then realised their mistake and operated (rare for an MCL). He has since had a groin strain in rehab and they are being super cautious in his rehab now. The 3rd round FA Cup game Arsenal. If Saka plays (only 3rd round) he will have his work cut out. If he is successful there (with or without Saka) then I'm really looking toward the Watford game on Jan 22 to form a view whether he is back properly. Hopefully both he and Irankunda play. If he is not fit for the World Cup then Rowles can do a job. He and Farrell are both intelligent readers of the game, Farrell quicker but Rowles reading of the game helps him out.

I can see your reasoning with Nisbet but that 4 man midfield 'cheat code' is what gets Australia away from playing haram ball. Hence my preference for Farrell. They all played and trained together from about 2018 until Miller left in June 2022. The other 3 played together until after the 2024 Grand Final
Nisbet won't get near it. You are biased with him. We have better midfielders at higher levels.

He is but he disrupts a particular plan. Horses for courses. Not that prolific though 23 games. 2 goals, 2 assists - he is an outlet though but against a dominant opponent him getting caught upfield creates holes behind. I'm trying to not make the opponent dominant

Won't happen but having Nisbet in the squad would be the right pressure on the starters. X factor from the bench. I actually hope Popovic doesn't guarantee midfielder a start but Irvine and O'Neill are probably locked in.

We have midfielders at a higher level - and I'm happy to give you Irvine, Balard and Metcalfe - after that I'd stuggle to name a better one, maybe playing at a higher level. I'd actually pick O'Neill in the squad as a CB cover in case one of our injury prone CBs get injured .McGree and Robertson also inevitably squad- but fill a different role.

The bias for Nisbet is another level even for fringe socceroos who no one actually watches.

Anyone else remember this bloke

He had a similar aura online. Would no doubt have made the round of 16 if he was selected for 2010.

We nearly did without him. Pim very underrated.
Hard to say under or overrated. GG slightly older but still early 30s for the most part. A lot of wear and tear on some of them though. But the advantage he had over Guus is they had much more experience playing together having gone through AFC qualifiers.

I think on paper he should have got out of the group but was unlucky.

People really disliked the style of play though.

I liked Pim. Vale Pim.

The GG had declined quite a bit by the 2010 world cup. Looks like there were no gg outfield players that got more than 1600 minutes in the big 5 that season with a lot of players spending a lot of time on the bench or dropping down a league

The world cup came a year too late for the gg who probably peaked in 2008/2009 due to them not declining individually yet but finally getting battle hardened in asia
