Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Smfcmike noted that SInisa confirmed that Jack Marshal is departing SMFC bc he is getting married and moving back home to WA and that a couple of players are looking at AL preference. Ill assume one of them is Lavale, lets hope the other isnt pasquali but rather someone like khadour and that we are already in talks with solid replacements!

I listened to it and it sounded like Eliopoulos will be the Jake Marshall replacement rather than a backup CB option which is disappointing. I believe he’s played 34 games across the last 5 years. Pasquali has committed for next season but get the feeling it’s Lavale and Khadour that will explore A-League opportunities. Sinisa said that they’re happy with how the squad looks and may only look at signing 1-2 players

Cheers! Khadour is neither here nor there for us to be honest and may even ease our wage bill a little, lavale is interesting bc he started to gel but im guessing habib can also rotate with Manny ..
Eliopoulos is a really good player but that bloody injury track record is such a cloud over him being successful, lets hope he stays fit but we need more cover.... 2 incomings would be ideal.

Dont want to sound greedy but boy a 3rd goal in the 2nd half would have been something else with a packed crowd behind the goals. I've seen many games at the village since the removal of the track including the heidelberg cup ties against A league teams and the npl semi final against Preston and that area behind the goals is pretty much always empty. It looked incredible, just needed a goal.

I think that 3rd goal would have made us all feel a bit more relaxed! Just kept thinking “please don't concede and let them back into the match”.

For the life of me i said exactly the same thing! Hahaha

Interesting to see who departs this squad. We know that Marshall is heading back home. Question marks over Khaddour and Lavale. If they are looking for A League contracts, they may have to wait until preseason mid year. That would still allow us to retain them for NPL and OFC Professional League (which concludes at the end of May 2026).

We’re going to need a squad of 30-33 players for both competitions. The good thing is that the first 6-7 rounds of the OFC Professional League is prior to the commencement of the 2026 NPL season. They’ll need to juggle the squad a bit to ensure we are successful in both competitions.

However, I must say that players seeing the exposure there is in the Australian Championship may seek out clubs which can offer them this opportunity. That further helps our recruitment against other non-foundation Australian Championship clubs.
