The FIFA series brand has been associated with giving small nations a chance to play friendlies.

One tweet said that we had reached out to Barbados (178) and Sao Tome and Principe (190), I sincerely hope that this is misinformation and that at least one of our March opponents are of World Cup pot 1-3 calibre, or the best of the non qualifying teams.

I don't think we will know who we will play until after the WC draw in 2 weeks.
I would be surprised if we aren't the highest ranked team in the series and even more surprised if our opponents are outside the top 100 (maybe the team we don't play will be).

Bummer. Still reckon it'll be good prep.
It’s a normal international break weekend. Pretty hard to fit in 3 matches, especially for players as they will be right into the business end of their domestic seasons. And considering travel times to and from Australia.

I’ll reserve judgment on this series until I know who we are playing. We need to be playing some reasonable teams. Reading the blurb on the FIFA website about these series does not fill me with confidence about which teams we may end up playing.

I’m all for the concept of the FIFA Series but IMHO we shouldn’t be competing in it, given it’s geared mainly towards giving minnow-nations the chance to play against opponents from outside their confeds.

That said, if we do end up w/the likes of São Tomé&Príncipe🇸🇹 and San Marino🇸🇲 in our group yet Popa sics his haram-ball on ‘em regardless, then..😡🤬🤯

When I look at who is hosting (and also the match ups from the inaugural series) I think FIFA aren't into creating big mismatches. We will probably be the highest ranked team but our opponents will be top 100 and if a team from outside the top 100 is there then they will play the other two teams not us. I would be surprised if we end up playing other World Cup teams but also surprised if we weren't playing teams that did well in qualifying without quite making it. Hoping we get one Euro, one African and one American team.

NZ are also hosting 2 games in the upcoming FIFA Series

Mention of NZ's games having to be in Auckland and not spread due to FIA series requirements

Who knows whether Aus and NZ are hosting 2 teams Trans Tasman style, or whether we are each hosting 3 sides separately, with winners and losers of MD1 playing on MD2 or some other format.

If it's true that we'll play Mali and Peru I expect another showing up. Sometimes just really rattled the confidence in me.

I guess holding that long against Colombia with illness is totally passable but the manner was still hard to watch.

Perhaps now the draw is made and we have clarity that light at the end up the tunnel will kick everyone into gear.

That'd be a long way for Scotland to come in conditions slightly similar to June but I think they'd want to get across to America and get a feel for the place in March.

Maybe since Qatar more teams have probed the host conditions than previous places. We thought the Confed in Russia would help but it was minimal.

NZ are hosting Chile, Finland and Cape Verda in March. Going by rumours Socceroos will be playing Grease, Scotland and Sth Africa.
