Hey NSW guys, could you settle a debate for me... Apart from Sydney Olympic, which would you say is the next big "Greek" club in NSW?
Is there even such a thing?
Fark, VPL 1 is going to be a spicy spicy league next year....
Thats what I thought.... I wonder why though? Even Adelaide has 4-5 decent Greek clubs. There isn't such a thing.
Its Olympic or no one.
There will be more riot police at a Somers St game than there are at King Tom next year. hahahahahahahahahaYep. I can already see some of the headlines lol
Sure, bit they are more state league clubs no?There’s Gladesville magic, Canterbury-Bankstown, then maybe liverpool Olympic. But Olympic easily the flagship. Traditionally Canterbury was probably the second biggest
They’re in the npl 2-3, Liverpool Olympic is more lower leagues. You also have Hamilton Olympic in Newcastle if you want to include thatSure, bit they are more state league clubs no?
Yeah Ive heard of both Canterbery and Gladesville, just suprised there werent more strong clubs . I mean just in NPL, VPL1 and VPL2 alone there are currently 12 Greek clubsThey’re in the npl 2-3, Liverpool Olympic is more lower leagues. Yea but there’s too many in Melb. All the nationalities have too many little clubs there imo, draws resources away from the flagship clubsYeah Ive heard of both Canterbery and Gladesville, just suprised there werent more strong clubs . Yes and no.... Some of these clubs have decades of history and are vital nurseries of players (and fans) for "flagship" clubs...Yea but there’s too many in Melb. All the nationalities have too many little clubs there imo, draws resources away from the flagship clubs
Yea not sure the exact reason, would be speculating. Even with Italian clubs, the Italian community of Sydney is roughly comparable in size to the Greek community of Melb and there’s really just Marconi, APIA, then daylight, then inter in npl 2, then daylight.Yes and no.... Preston is strengthening for a push at the title next year, makes sense Markovski looks to bring in stalwarts he knows... Avondale slowly losing all the lustre perhaps?
Not only the league itself but many clubs have new head coaches (Knights, Northcote, Bulleen, Juventus, Manningham) add Victory and WU plus Port Melbourne, Langy, Srbija Brunswick and Sunshine plus Eltham and N. Geelong then try and pick 3 to go upFark, VPL 1 is going to be a spicy spicy league next year....
