Melbourne city thread

Are City and/or Victory doing any promoting for the new season? Or waiting for AFL to finish?
 
Same as last year, could be lots of opportunities for youngsters at Melbourne City, with injuries striking again.
Leckie hamstring.
Nabbout not returned from A.C.L.
Lopane out for a few months with an ankle issue.

All promoting is on social media these days, because that's where the people are. Don't know about MC, but MV are pretty regular with the posts on socials.

Much of the Melbourne City promotion on socials is around their ongoing AFC Champions League Elite campaign as well as continuing to bolster their women's squad ahead of season 2025-26, along with acknowledgement of the men's team winning the A-League Men championship this past season and Holly McNamara going to an awards ceremony in Saudi.

A big problem with social media is people want to view the cool in stuff and there's nothing cool about Australian football let alone Melbourne city so it's a really hard sell
 
A tough game coming up, no Leckie? Caputo and Bonetig with the U20's.
Not ideal and can't see us winning this one, but you never know.
They are least had a friendly between games.

Was in Melbourne for the grand final over the weekend, was surprised to see a fair bit of Victory gear on the streets (this was solely CBD).

Also went to a few sports shops on and around Bourke Street and there was more Victory gear for sale than Melbourne Storm gear, which I thought was interesting considering the Storm just made the final.

Absolutely nothing in relation to Melbourne City though.

Bad form!

On a positive you must be thrilled about the quality of kids coming through the Melb City Academy.

Since Diamanti has left, hopefully other City underage coaches are responsible for the high quality players too.
