Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Thats a freedom of expression thing and we dont know the connections in place at their club/grk community, so it remains irrelevent to us (id have preferred they focused on 28η Οκτωβρίου but thats just me!).

Lets not forget that we at the front end of this still and cant be selective (anyone and everyone that gets through the doors is a win, orthodox priest or atheist Bobby all alike, if they choose that bc it gets more there, then credit to them as ive said before, they arent US..... problem is they seem to have really lost the community they suddenly want themselves to lean on and there is a huge distrust there that with the factions still in play yo some degree they have poisoned the crowd,
Mate you're 100% right, its another club's problem... I just thought it was pretty lame.

The dude that sung both national anthems at the start of the match sounded like he was from one of those 1920s news reals and the 6 people that clapped did so to be polite... The two poor kiddies in $2 shop Gladiator costumes? WTF, were they supposed to be ancient Spartans or something? 3-4 of the Olympic boys came into the pub to have a drink before the game and despite the bravado they didnt seem connected to their club much. More interested in trying to play up some fake "brotherhood" The girl with the drum getting shitty with that one bloke joining in with the Hellas chants was hilarious.. I wouldn't chant "O-ly-mpic" if they paid me. And pleasingly none of our lads did either...

Beyond lame it was but thats also my point, when youve lost engagement then it all looks like gimmicks unfortunately.

you get what you pay for, shouldve hired Maroulis... Argyro refused to sing anywhere that wasnt lakeside so they had to settle.🤣

My only takeaway other than the historical innacuracy is that the kids atleast seemed to enjoy it.. athens rome same same. Σπαρτιατορωμαιοι αυτοί, φοβήθηκαν μην φάνε καμία μήνυση από την α α λεξανδρα, και άφησαν το Μεγα στο σπίτι;; 🤣

i found all those around us tame as and my little holigans were loud as f%$k.

Brotherhood is for national holidays, this is SMFC above all else!

Was a better view couple rows back and the right of the drummer girl. 😜

TBF, 3/4 of the blowins at opening night at Lakeside were probably in the same boat... Most were still asking if Trimboli and Boutsianis still played for Hellas...

From what I could see on tv, the guys who went to Melbourne in round 1 would probably be the equivalent of you blokes, they’re the ones who are there week in week out no matter what. Those guys that I saw at the game on the weekend are only there for the big games

lol, no I meant the blow in SMFC "fans" most of which hadn't been to a live match since the NSL days..

Can we hit 2,000 on Saturday with 10-20mm rain expected?
Maybe we should pay the internet sensations from Suited and Boutsed $1500 per post to drum up business for us? hahaha

Who cares what the crowd is at this stage, 3 points is the aim. I would hazard a guess that FA have already created their list of grievances for this tournament progressing past next year.

I wanted us to have the highest group stage attendance lol. Preston will finished ahead. Then again we are hosting the quarters so we will have the highest overall.

come on, Marconi got over 2k in a thunderstorm and with an indefinitely delayed kick off, south can too ;)

Problem is the Melbourne A league derby is on a few hours later as well so we will probably lose a lot of neutrals.

Then again not sure if Preston supporters will turn up to support Broadmeadow, i doubt it.

It will probably look ok on tv as everyone packs under the covered rows.

Just figure out what actual "attendance" we need for Saturday is and ask FA to fudge the numbers like they have done for every single one of these games... I mean Im sure they are going to anyway as they steer the narrative in the direction they want, as they will the allocation of the semis and final. Its ALL bullshit, who cares... its whats on the pitch that counts.

Our full marketing focus should already be on the qf.... Obviously this will need half the work if its Preston.

Zero trust in FA from before, havnt done anything to change that perception.

Yeah

Under these conditions i highly doubt that they will.

Would be interesting if indeed preston supporters did decide to come support them..
