Would it be at all feasible, and or desirable by both parties, to have their articles "published" on our forum with the intention of their writers to be able to interact with readers comments, questions, criticism's or compliments around each article? Something beyond the usual FB and Twitter brevity .. Don't know if Im barking up the wrong tree but just thought they might like the chance to further their reach while showing they "care" about us tragics in a way.. and it may even drive some traffic here....

Just a Friday random thought...

I doubt that would be desirable by them. Perhaps they could have Q&A here I guess? But not each article. But then again they could just ask readers to submit questions and have them answered on their site. They also already have a comments section on their articles

I'd be open for a collaberation, would have to figure out something mutually beneficial even if there is interest on their end mind you

I do miss the 442 articles where people commenting would have their comments appear on the forum, then when they got an email that someone has replied to their comment, the link would direct them to the forum. It grew both the forum and the articles pretty effectively

then again....442 in Australia died so maybe it wasn't that effective :D

seemed to make 442 the place to go mind you, was enormous with how many people were on that forum
 
Looking back at 442, people were much more willing to make new threads every day. Are people trigger shy here? We tend to prefer epic mega threads with 500 pages rather than start a new one haha

I used to think I was shy but mum is telling me I have to tell you that I'm not.

I think most people like to read all sorts of stuff and there are existing threads to cover a lot of what interests them if they have a question or comment.

I know I start a new one every time I think of something out of the box. I am guessing most people have what they want covered already.

For anyone wavering - just do it. If it asks a question or raises an opinion that does not quite fit anywhere else then good on you. If it does not have the legs to run for pages (and they don't have to in order to be relevant anyway) they work their way off the front page and sit waiting for any future interest anyway - like Riddles/Quizzes/Worst Movie Ever/Mono's Least Unattractive Qualities and so on.

If it's in its own section it'd be interesting. What I didn't enjoy of 442 was EVERY single article or random thought became it's own thread and just clogged up the feed.

'Striker says weather is nice'

'Keeper argues grass was green'

Their Facebook already has over 1000 likes. Much easier to like a page than signing up here and actually contributing.

My initial fear of flaky articles hasn't come to fruition. They've got some unique stuff and reach out to the people in the article getting first hand quotes instead of recycling the media loop.

This was my thought. Given all their investment and it being their employment I think they'll want to go it alone as much as possible and not start transporting stuff elsewhere.

That's right. A lot of newly made threads can easily have its idea posted in an already existing thread, have it's 8 comment response and then fade away. I guess unpopular threads will fade away anyway but the 442 auto post was just terrible for 442 traffic and we had to bump a lot.

I've been posting with previous page showing so I've not seen these latest comments load.

Megatthreads are simply that. The home of the topic. I feel a thread should be started if it'll get maybe 60-100+ replies.

What bugged me was a new thread for something, I know I'm exaggerating here, 'player has calf massaged'. Also one might have a random thought and make a thread when it'll suffice for two days on a mega thread.

A thread for every single AA transfer wouldn't be needed. Maybe for the big select few where we know there'll vs a massive bespoke discussion.

I remember late on 442 we had some new bloke come on and post or link his articles. While it kept traffic up it felt like a slight hijack that he was using the Australian football feed for his own content. Don't even remember his name. Thankfully now we've got fan view and it's been excellent.

Yeah there is a balance. I do get more curious when something is in a new thread where. I like how some repeat subjects have their own threads like p and r. But if someone has some new subject they want to discuss they should pull the trigger and make a new thread imo :)

Interesting observation, Grazor.

Some posters never start new threads and are essentially reactive posters. Maybe they just don't have the confidence? I've known some posters for years who never commence threads.
 
I started a thread on futsal and SSGs. Locally heaps of players play futsal year round, even NPL players in winter as well as the regular outdoor season. Many play socially and mixed gender. The games are a bit more casual and players get a lot of touches.

It seems nobody plays high level or social SSGs and futsal on G and G. I'm gobsmacked! Heaps played on 442 and TWG. If my body still held together I would play.
 
Now the Fan View articles are being written again, all I've read I've enjoyed, given the diversity of them, I'm finding G and G is covering almost all my forum participation interests online - outside football as well.

The one thing FV has established is how many posters on here are very interested in UEFA football over and above Aus domestic football than I realised?

As well as FV, Podcasts ( which I can't keep up with), posters posting articles from elsewhere, Major football threads that are constantly revisited in AL, ACL, Socceroos, Aussies Abroad, Matildas, underage Aus teams, NPL, plus threads outside football, I can barely keep up with G and G!

The only thing is Pasquali doesn't want my cash donation. My money isn't good enough for him! I'm happy to drop it off to a Hobart business, church, pub, cafe, shop, etc, where he knows the owners and I can make a donation for Pasquali so he can retain his anonymity.

The only forum I visit elsewhere is Weight Training these days. There is a really good online community and there is a lot shared knowledge from considerable expertise - which is hard to replicate.
