Was the nationality ban on Aussie clubs necessary to build our future?

I disagree.

We all jump up and down when the narrative is "soccer hooligans at it again" but these same buttercups get all reddit fury over the word "Croatian" (in this instance, but willing to through any migrant group under the bus to fuel their xenophobic reaction tbh) ...

Why can't it just be "a bunch of flogs did something" for BOTH instances? Why bring ethnicity into it?
If you have a bunch of flogs wearing red and white checked tops at a Wherever Croatia game you are going to get the ethnic relationship brought in. It is a common pattern that will not be left out of any media report.

Same as seeing a group of South Sudanese youths (yes, how can you tell they are all South Sudanese) with knives going at it. They are never going to report just that a group of youths with knives went at it if they can find something to tie it all together as a group/gang. It could be builders with tools. They will always report a common binding element if they can regardless of what that factor is.

Age, gender, hair colour, footwear, employer, ethnicity - if they can find a common element it is part of the story.

Except when it is NRL or AFL violence - then it is just generic rival gangs or drunks at a sporting event.

Speaking of reddit, they are saying that "no left turn" signs are a facist dog whistle

Surely that is nonsense? I remember being in the usa during the Obama era and seeing that phrase a lot to protest the affordable care act

Dont get me wrong, i think universal healthcare is a terrible thing to protest, but seems rediculous to call that facist. Surely this is a mainstream right wing activist slogan?

Considering it's reddit, it would not surprise me in the least if they legitimately think no left turn signs are a fascist dogwhistle.

Generally reality is the opposite of whatever gets upvoted into the stratosphere of mainstream reddit, which is (itself) largely a psy-op.

99.99% of people who are active on Reddit are legitimately batshit crazy.

It's a cesspit of far left wankers who still live in mummy & daddy's basement.

I've said in the past that reddit users cannot promote critical thought, as it will be downvoted over the mainstream consensus opinion. Over time, this creates echo chambers where dissenting opinions are punished, as the platform’s design simply doesn’t reward them. Therefore people who use reddit a lot think they have all the right opinions.

To be fair i can see the appeal of thinking u are right on everything because all dissent is hidden by down votes :D

It is so messed up that if it's downvoted your post isn't even seen lol I guess that shows why forums are still popular amongst football fans. Imagine a forum where one bad result means you can’t defend the manager because, according to the consensus, he has to be sacked.

1000% correct. Made about 3 comments disagreeing with the anti pro / rel people and said that Wellington shouldn't be there in a thread about how well they were doing and copped a downvoting pizzling.

Never commented after that.

I knew this thread would still be going.

Fair call about the trad clubs. I was watching abit of the the Canberra Croatia match recently, was that Ustasi signage in the outfield again?
A section of Croats cant help themselves. Look, this is why Conroy and also the APL will have to really think long about whether some of these clubs can participate going forward. They cannot represent football at any significant level here.
There are other sporting codes here that are being backed alot more because of these 'effnic' reasons from years ago and will continue to be the case going forward.

If you are referring to the no left turn, then no its got nothing to do with "Ustasi" 🤦‍♂️
