Don't mind people arguing, but want to keep the championship and the general a league thread 25/26 threads on topic. So please debates here and keep those threads on topic

Let's start with some controversial comments.

How many World cups would the Socceroos have made under the NSL?

I would say that the Golden Generation would not have made the 2006 World cup without Frank Lowy, the evil man in many NSL fans eyes.
The Golden Generation would have gone into the 2006 qualifiers with Frank Farina (they did) as their coach under the NSL & played Uruguay, I don't think they would've qualified.

My favourite part of that one was that Frank Lowy sacked him from his boat. Farina was a terrible coach, just ask Sydney FC fans when he coached them.

Yes that was with Del Piero when Franky was SFC manager, giving the keys to a Porsche to Learner.

no i mistyped, i meant in the asian pathway or the oceania pathway
either, would the NSL been able to provide the coaches & infrastructure to qualify. Players yes no doubt would have qualified, the NSL exceeded, despite such a poor infrastructure, they produced our GG, but they had no money.

I was about to say we would've performed mostly the same for a while, but then you made a good point about Frank, bringing in Guus, the luxury flights, and we only just scraped in against Uruguay. So you're probably right, they wouldn't have qualified for 2006.

Would we have lost the AIS? Have the academies made a difference? That's probably what I'm thinking about.

Yes the AIS was a huge lost, but this was not just a football issue.

Back to my main point, think if we didn't qualify of 2006, Frank would have left & Arnold would take over the next campaign to 2010 & we saw how good that was with Golden Generation in the 2007 Asian cup.
