To think we passed on Milligan and sat Badalato on the bench the entire time. Some poor decisions there.

The players look spiritless or lacking confidence. No vibes about them. But Genreau is class.

We defended really badly, and Newcastle scored some cracking goals. They probably won't play that well again for the whole season. And we need to tighten up defensively.

But our tricky early season fixture and injury concerns, means we are already resigned to yet another slow start to the season.

It really is criminal for the APL to have us play away in 5 of the first 7 rounds, when they need the bigger teams pulling crowds at home to help build momentum for the league. They really are experts at shooting themselves in the foot.

We talked about Badalato last week. The kid is a gun and we tried to keep him. But it’s uncanny how frequently former players score against us. I had money on him scoring against us. It was always a certainty.

TBH I expected a lot more from MVC so far. For the life of me, I can't figure out why things are not panning out the way I expected. I fear that Valadon's confidence in the club is waning at the moment.

We should be better than we are. I'm not convinced in Diles. I wonder if we'll make a play for Aloisi.
I think give Diles another week and see how he runs against bottom-placed Perth Glory. If he can't get the job done then it's safe to say he gets the sack after and maybe Aloisi takes over.

lol. people are calling for his sacking after 1 loss?

Mate, he ain't getting sacked.

Not yet, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't some KPI's in his contract.
All comes down to how he responds. After a performance like that, he needs to make some changes. If we see the same line-up and plan on Friday, then he's days will almost certainly be numbered.

I don't know about Diles. Talks like a cliched wogan lol

His speeches seem very cliche too.

He did a good jpb at the end of last season, but doesn't appear to have lots of ideas

To me he is a very good tactician. The Auckland away semi was a masterclass. But we struggle with consistency. Last years GF was as poor as we've played all season.

Yeah it’s hard to tell.

You’d think you’d have to be pretty clued in to land the job.

The problem at MV is there is no money for a big manager

What constitutes a "big manager" nowadays? We just had the current Socceroos coach not that long ago.

I wanted us to sign Milligan after Popa left. You just know he's going to be going places.

I have always rated him as a captain and now as a coach. I was disappointed that we selected Kisnorbo over him when I think they were the final 2 candidates.
I was too. The decision looks even worse now.

I think at this rate, a ‘big manager’ might as well be any foreign coach..

He’s talked up the fact he’s done coaching-seminars at the Bernabeu and that he knows people at AEK Athens..

Up till now I’ve seen precious little indication of either from him.

So yeah, he’s just short of being full-of-sh1t IMHO
