The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

This all makes sense based off the rabbithole I went down when doing my database for logos, etc - Brunswick Zebras, Manningham Juventus, Brunswick Juventus/Moreland Zebras all made me lost and very confused. Oh and Brimbank Stallions too (but that one was a bit more straight forward)
There was a famous excell sheet doing the rounds years ago showing the "family tree" of Italian clubs in Melbourne... it was like an episode of "Who do you think you are"....

Fwiw I know many who are actually very interested in Australian soccer/npl/the championship but they just don’t consider the current Brunswick juventus to be the “real” one. They don’t feel authentically represented by a club in that space, so yea it’s usually Melbourne victory even if they attend/take an interest in npl games. Was probably a factor in victory’s early success. Many quietly wish there was a Marconi or APIA or even Adelaide city equivalent in Melb and if they thought there was they might support it. Never say never, and probably if there was a club who could do anything in that space it would be Brunswick juventus due to name recognition. But a lot would have to change from the status quo and I see no evidence of that happening, can barely get back into npl. Just my 2c
Hey mate, what do you hear about regarding the perception of Avondale amongst the Italian community? What do APIA and Marconi for example think of them?

I wonder what old Janakan would think of the Championhsip going ahead? Probably sitting in a dark room with Rugari, hoping beyond hope that the Earth gets hit by an asteroid or something
the guy seems to have completely disappeared

I really would love to know the inside story on how the heck that article happened!

I don't mean to gatekeep, but my immediate reaction was to get a bit bothered that someone would just claim they were an economist with the amount of sacrifice you have to make to become an academic - moving country to country working your but off away from your support networks

It was pretty bizarre.. I mean did he really think nobody would notice a made up player, an NSL legend no less?

30 caps for the socceroos I hear!
Not, by any means, disparaging economists, but if Janakan had made up some name and pretended to "interview" an economist about how or why a NST would be unsustainable most would have attacked the premise of the article, not the credibility of the economist.. Truly one of those bizarre Australian Soccer moments...
