Vive La France: French Football discussion thread

well you can't see anyone competing with PSG - will be interesting who makes up the rest of the ladder through the season.

There's a guy on the Reddit footballhighlights sub uploading 30 minute Ligue Un mini matches to Gofile and posting the links on the sub.

Gofile is a pretty safe site and I've been using it for other things myself.

At least I get to see some French football. 🇲🇫

If I understood correctly Simon Hill is doing some work on the Ligue 1 game Nice against Nantes.

I got a full match download from Reddit footballhighlights of this morning's 'Le Classique' between Olympic Marseille and PSG, a game rearranged after the Sunday game was postponed due to a huge storm in the South of France...

L'OM won 1-0 but what a great game of football...

Probably the best game I've seen this season so far from anywhere.

4t tier (N2) Avranches knock Ligue 1 Brest out of the Coupe de France 5-4 on pens after it finished 1-1 on 90 minutes....

Saw the Olympic Lyon v Laval Coupe de France hame today...

Endrick on loan at O'L.from Real Madrid is tearing French football a new one!!

His goal this morning was ferocious...

Lyon, Lens and Marseille all through to the quarter-finals and all 3 will fancy their chances with PSG out.

RC Strasbourg v AS Monaco tomorrow morning.

I finally managed to watch Le Classique between PSG and Olympique Marseille today. A bit late because I was manically busy on Monday!

5 - 0 to the Parisians which I think will almost certainly mean rhe sack for OM coach Roberto de Zerbi.

I just can't see how he stays on at the Velodrome after this defeat and the manner of the defeat!!

he should have stayed at the Seagulls - and there were mentions he going to United.
I think he's crepe suzette soon enough there - didn't he offer his resignation not long ago after another loss.
I just looked up anotehr article.
Entitled players moaning - thats it gtfo.
Get your payout RdZ.
4th on the ladder - pretty safe, Lyon just above them not much better.
Meh the french league - I just can't get into it.

The trouble is that Olympique Marseille is more than just a football club.....it's the beating heart of a city and a powerful symbol of working-class identity within that city, its a barrometer of multiculturalism and political expression in France. It’s quite the cultural phenomenon.

The fanbase is very, very touchy....

They have this profound psychological contract with the club. More so than any other club in France and failures, especially those perceived as a lack of effort or identity (like poor recent performances against Liverpool Bruges and now PSG), feel like an extreme betrayal!!!

Ah so pretty normal to me - though it’s French and they are arrogant - sorry just saying what I’ve experienced with some or could be many of them haha

When the Western European football bubble finally bursts and the pay tv and streaming broadcasting companies can no longer feed the beast there's going to be one almighty amount of proverbial shite 'hitting the fan'....

What happened to Serie A when it's time as the world’s most financially well off league came to an end will seem like a walk in the park....

But one country that could be immune to a broadcaster's cash meltdown is France and the French League.

They probably have the best talent production lines in world football and aren't reliant on buying up everyone else's players at all.

To be fair I wouldn't mind this happening.

This could see a realignment of the European football landscape where 1 or 2 leagues aren't dominating.

You could easily imagine a scenario where there are other league’s clubs from all over Europe with a realistic chance of winning trophies at European level.

France, Holland, Portugal et al....

Look there will be a big shift sooner or later - the $ bubble will pop but fuel another league/country but who/which/where is the trillion $ question.
One thing that will end up is the Super League breakaway I expect.
Don't think Infantino is winning many friends but the ME and Trumpy.
FUL - I actually would luv seeing Latin merica become the powerhouse it could be IF they got their act together instead of France/Holland/Port for eg.

I think that it will be a while yet before Europe is superceeded by another continent.

If the North and South American confederations amalgamated then you could definitely see a pathway for that joint continental confederation becoming king.

Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and the USA would be a very attractive proposition to the big football investors then.

But then I was thinking a similar situation with Asia about 10-15 years ago when China started to take it seriously. China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Vietnam should be able to develop a huge football industry. Then you factor in the middle players like Saudia Arabia, The UAE, Thailand, Malaysia and of course Australia....

But if it is going to happen it's taking it's time!!

Stade de Rennes handing PSG their arses on a plate earlier today....

Great game. Great performance considering Rennes sacked their manager the other day.
