The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

What were the crowd attendances of Macarthur and Western United, 3/4k average? You could take the alternate view point and say this is pretty good for clubs that literally have no history?
Would argue that’s largely because they’re a shop window for the product that is the a league itself, very few people are there purely for the clubs. Their identity/business model revolves around being in the a league, if they were to drop out very few of those people would be there specifically supporting western regardless of the league. There’s probably only a handful of a league clubs who could potentially even survive without the backing of the a league brand. Maybe victory, Sydney fc, wanderers, Adelaide united Perth maybe could scale back their operation to survive in some shape or form.

I completely agree with you on each point.

My problem is, people say 2/3k for a second tier is "a pretty good effort" and whip up excuses such as weather etc, but when A-league teams get 5k the same people say its literally the end of the world and a disgrace.
I dont think anyone made comment w=on 5k Aleague crowds but Westerb United DID get a sub 1k crowd..... what did you expecty, praise?

The excluded clubs of 21 years and counting were told that the reason they where excluded was to make way for this new bright, shiny, professional "Mainstream" soccer paradise.... and yet despite some awe-inspiring monster derby crowds, it really does look not that much better than what a cobbled together, debt ridden NSL did 3 decades ago.... If the Aleague is averaging 6-8k crowds across the board why/how would a second division average more?

I don’t know what the obsession with crowds is so relevant in this country go to any second division club in the world they would be on par with our crowds maybe even less
And even when they are much more the proportional difference between the first and second divisions are pretty much the same ..... A second division just needs to "stay alive" anything more is a bonus.

On the flip side, did any of these NSL clubs average what Victory have averaged in the top tier?

I assume the answer is no.

We just need to be realistic rather than turn on each other for no reason.
Never, they didn't and possibly never could, even now..... maybe a good idea would be to let them play along side the Aleague clubs for 20 years and we can then see whats what?

If we were to add say South Melbourne and Marconi to the Aleague, im sure the majority of fans of Aleague teams would be happy to have them clubs included, or wouldn't not care to have them in etc.
Maybe some would but a quick trip over the whimsical wonderland of SM would suggest that many would most definitely NOT want the "effnikz" back in....

According to the latest sources currently available, the national estimated average attendance would be 8 humans and 2 support dogs.
There were 16 x humans at one stage this year but 8 of them got banned for life from the FA for being .... well... sick crunts.

We will find out next year regarding at least one of the franchises... WU is rumoured to be able to play in VPL 1 so, being a title winning Aleague club now effectively frozen out of the national tier (like all the ex NSL clubs) I wonder how big their crowds are going to be? Surely their rusted on ride or die fans will pack out Ironbark.... Would be disappointed with anything less than 6800 :)

None of those clubs were designed to be like MV though. It would be like having SM in the top flight for 5 years without any competition.

Melbourne City have made 5 of the last 6 grand finals and been the premier performing on field club in Melbourne and nobody gives a shit because Victory took everyone in the first 5 years.

Mono you couldnt have said it any more perfectly! That is the actual test case! I want to see the excuses and backflips after that plays out as we all know it will! I suggest a few people go digging back to find answers for their bs stabs about NSL etc bc they now will have to come up with some damn good original excuses when reality comes knocking, only this time the proof will be in the pudding, wont be able to hide especially since the corpse didnt evenn have time to go cold yet! Hahaha

Ahh WU, you may just be the best thing to come out of the AL (pardon the pun).... here's hoping it continues to go that way!

Post covid, Melbourne City have averaged more than 7k each season whilst being little brother to Victory, which is on par with SM's best ever seasons who only had Knights as competition? Does this mean nobody cared about SM as well?

its ok H bw, they got to fight their fight even though their ammo isn't much - he's ok no diff to sutho its good banter.
They are fighting over split airs against semi pro tin pot ethnic started aussie clubs from the ground up, they won't break us nor have.

Technically 6 of them were banned but the other two they were unable to determine whether they fitted into the human or companion dog category so they were statistically unusable.
