Big Ange thread

I'm sure Wood must be looking over his shoulder re younger Jesus.

yer agree southmelb this 1st home game is a crucial one for Ange/Forest - Black Kats are doing ok as well - IF they let Xhaka influence the game they gonna be in for a big one.
I think Wood will ask to leave in January. He is not made to be running around like a headless chicken.

This quote from the live commentary stood out to me;

“Ange then made an attacking change by removing Douglas Luiz for Dilane Bakwa and it backfired.”

This was after they were up 2-1
Parking the bus also has its flaws by begging the opponent to attack. A fine away draw to begin. So different in the league format.

Ange doesn't know how to hold onto a lead and shut up shop.

"it's just who we are mate"
Agree with it or not, the logic of still trying to score the 3rd goal is just as sound as trying to sit deep and defend a miserly one goal lead. You could even argue controlling your destiny by playing to score is the better option.

At the end of the day Ange coaches in the context of belief being the driver of everything. Much like Morgan's recent video with the U20s, he instils his principles of play, sets the team structure and allows them to express themselves with the ball in a positive way. The buy in is everything and the limits to how good the team can be is up to them.

Ange understands in the business of football results are everything and he is ultimately responsible for every result. But nothing makes more sense than a man who has won a fair number of trophies now to be sticking to the very method that has got him this far.

He really does polarise and it's baffling to me why so many of his naysayers seem to simply not get it.

If a business owner lived by the 'shut up shop' mantra then he would never score a sale ;)

If I'm going to watch a game of football, in the ground or on the box, whether it's my team or I'm there as a neutral then win, lose or draw I want to be entertained....

This is why I’m into football. For the entertainment aspect....

If my team loses it's not going to really effect my life that much. But if they play dormant, defensive, uninspiring football then I'm going to be less engaged. And less engagement means I'm not enjoying what I'm doing.

I'll just go and find something else to do, I've got plenty of other hobbies....and winning or losing at football isn't like life and death for me.

So I kinda get the Ange perspective on what football is about.

Brilliantly said.

Sunderland win 1:0 at Forest in an excellent battle. Forest not without their own ideas and plenty of cohesion and effort. The goals will come. This is a good thing as now Ange and the squad will need to work to get out of the hole.

Forest lose 1-0 to Sunderland in their Premier League game and Ange is now winless in his first five games as head coach in all competitions. Angeball clearly not working and surely he's close to getting the sack by now.

A better manager will likely have less success at the start by not having a magical manager bounce and take time to thoroughly instill the system.

Forest have looked decent despite not winning their last two matches. While wins matter, the chance creation and effort to try and score is there. I think the goals will come.

Inevitable in football but the goal came from a somewhat contentious free kick but plenty of time otherwise to score.

Pretty much fucked now i'd say, of course Wood is suddenly a bum in front of goals lol.
Wood to come out and say something blaming 'Aussie'. Kiwis dropping articles before referring to Australians. Bunch of numbskulls.

He will get his first win on Friday in Europe but i dont see where a league win is coming from. The free kick awarded to Sunderland that led to the goal was a digrace but after now 4 games in a row of chance after chance butchered it has to be conceeded that the front line arent up to it and since they cant keep clean sheets i dont see this working out. If Wood cant score headers from point blank range you may as well throw in the towel.

Yeah I just want my team to leave it all out there. You win some you lose some and it's better to support a club where scoring feels like you've overcome a hurdle. Bayern fans must be so bored these days.

It's a weird time to be watching this game we love.

We're in a Post-Messi/Ronaldo world. The drop off is massive to be honest.

I watched several EPL games over the weekend where matches were marred by basic skill error. Not trying to be all nostalgic, but the game just isn't what it used to be.

This is challenging for Ange, because comparatively speaking, his approach requires a high degree to technical ability to execute his gameplan.

I think the way everything is so plastered and repeated in the digital age the aura is gone. We don't even need to use our imaginations anymore. I'm honestly tired of the whole PSG branding and UCL clashes feel like almost always the same teams.

A report this week showed a lot of English fans have started visiting lower league matches or the EFL. I still enjoy the EPL but it's become a high priced product for tourism and day trippers.

It's true high level matches have become chess and a lot of games only open up after an hour.

If you take as an example, peak Arsenal under Wenger and what is probably now peak Arsenal under Arteta then you can see that the differences in philosophy is huge.

Both excellent sides, of course but under Wenger the football was technically brilliant, the team dynamics ran like clockwork, an absolute joy to watch.

The current Arsenal side have some technically brilliant players like Odegaard, Eze and Saka but its obvious the coaching practices are totally different. It's almost similar to the Arsenal of George Graham, effecive but in a tactically rudimentary way.

swear he always plays newcastle after they have lost to a big team, not sure if he can get results in the next month maybe one over man utd but needs to get some results in europe or the media going to have a field day.

Yeah the only shining light I saw was young 18 y.o King at Fulham bamboozling defenders did get booked for diving though. But I'm sure all the tricks will be trained out of him soon.
