Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

The club wants both sides of the grandstands full which means they’ll be wanting 6-7k.

They have 3 weeks to market this to the casual supporters / old supporters, Greek community and schools, surrounding areas. Let’s see what happens, it’s our biggest game in 20 years if we can’t get 5k+ after pushing for this competition for 7-8 years then we’ll be an embarrassment.
Even if you get that against olympic big IF, it wont come in the other 2 group games .. if we had a consistent crowd of say 5k though then it will grow the further we can progress and thats better metrics imo and more realistic..

Vant just wish a crowd that size without the leg work to get them through the doors...

Perhaps @southmelb was right maybe a fornaroli wouldve been the small push needed to draw that crowd over the line!?

Rock and hard place.. metrics need to be there now as FA has said to keep it going but they cant be when its gone out of its way to water it down from the get go!
Hopefully the metrics are not just crowd numbers!
Yep, it’s not a “league”, majority of the big traditional clubs won’t even meet, and many of the kick off times are extremely unfavourable. So all the ingredients aren’t exactly “there” to set it up for success. Again, better than nothing for a year or two, but will wear thin quickly if there isn’t a clear plan and a time frame to go to a home and away league

From a Marconi perspective for example..1pm kick off on a Saturday v south Hobart..or a 1 pm kickoff against Wollongong, who are already a regular npl opponent..how are you gonna draw good crowds to those..Probably less favourable crowd drawing conditions than many an npl game

That it was the beginning of the end of estebanball and the pathway to some orthological football...then id
say hell yeah! With him or a few more weeks of him and we wouldve got relagated!
I don't know about ornithology but 2 wins and a draw before the balcony bros forced him to rest 9 players against St Albans and pissed off the whole playing group in the process was what almost got us relegated... NOT manager with a record of 2 wins 1 draw from the first 3 matches... and the Charity Shield the week before season started.

Realistically anything above 4.5 is a win at this point... you can build on that.. group doenst help.. wouldve been different if we had syd utd and the croats got behind them. The rockdale blocks will.only get the hardcore brethren at best so no hope there and qlders think its too cold.. its the next rounds that will show proper crowds

That figure puts us above 1/3 of the AL pros
I don't see it that way... This is the very first match of a competition we have been EXTREMELY vocal about... If anything the first match will be the bumper crowd and will taper off for the following 2 x home games against (no disrespect) smaller opposition. If we only get 5 thousand against Olympic then we will get 500 against Moreton Bay....

Imo this is why, whilst it’s a good start to get the ball rolling, get some momentum going, make it a tangible thing that can be built on etc etc it needs to be clear that this is not the end game, and there needs to be a clear plan to go to a proper home and away league within 2-3 years, because otherwise this will wear thin and lose momentum pretty quickly
It will lose even more momentum if opening round crowds are only 3 thousand people mate.

We won't attract a crowd of 8,500. A realistic figure is 3,000-4,000. We'd be lucky to have 100 Sydney Olympic fans down for the match.
If we can only attract as many fans to this as Dandy City can to a match, or Heidelberg can (assuming the GF was roughly 50/50) then we should just fold the club already....

Mannnnnyyyyy! Another top signing.

Tommy G to be announced when he gets back from overseas and hopefully we can sign a playmaker attacking midfielder.
Just thinking about a top 3 of Uchida, Bonada and Aguek has me salivating for goals galore....... :)

As much as I was grumbling, Ive gotta say we have done a good bit of business this window.... on paper ..... FORZA HELLAS.....
