Mate personally, I dont really notice anything to do with Aleague as a comparison. Its the other NPL clubs that have got their act together that I think we are competing with for hearts and minds.... 8.5K at a NPL GF is miles better than anything we have drawn in the past - yes I know we got screwed on venues and form was shit etc etc... buts still... If we wanna pretend we are the biggest club in the land we have to prove it.

Joe Gorman speculated in his book that Italian migrants found it easier to stomach the reforms in the game over the last few decades because italian culture gets affirmed a lot in mainstream Australia compared to other migrant identities - italian food and the catholic church being two expamples that come to mind. Not sure how right Joe is. Maybe if lots of anglo Aussies were Greek Orthodox and making Ek Mek rather than Tiramasu, attitudes would have been different

Whatever the SA roots and casting back on your encounter with him, sure in person he may come across as a likeable person I'm sure But the fact of the matter is as Mono mentions he has been negative about NPL Clubs in his reporting for years - I get it, like any journo you get behind where you get paid off, be it invites to functions, a tip from XYZ board members OR scoop Club or players movements/news.......
I don't recall reading any/much support or positive outlook to the game below unless I've missed one now and then.

I find it impossible to imagine he'd be likeable in person if he's truly anything like his online/public persona..frankly he comes across as a smug twat who revels in the fact he's hated(or at least not taken altogether seriously) by so many within the game here.

It'll be interesting to see if Heidelberg can celebrate by getting greater than their average crowd of 1450 attendees to a game...morons at best in their marketing/socials dept.

If they $25 against Moreton and Broadmeadow, lucky to get 3k.

Against olympic, fair enough.
