Australian Championship campaign ideas!

Tousle away, im curious to see who Ive missed since i wasnt their for much of it and im judging a lot of players on roos performances
Mate its a mugs game, so many quality players both from juniors and bought in that its almost impossible to narrow down.

The 98 GF you posted on the South thread, as an example, squad was so strong that year we had Boutsi, Curcija AND Coveny on the bench!!!!!

You havent lived if you havent wasted an evening arguing over a teams best ever starting xi

Problem is that its a more boring convo for the socceroos since 90 percent were our starting xi in 2006. Need to deliberately make some wild takes to make the convo more interesting, like saying some random player from the 70s was way better. Just make sure its a player no one else has seen

In that case, what about Vieri senior and junior.
Yeah wasnt sure about him, i think he spent only 1 year of his youth there, is that enough to take credit for his development? Or did he spend longer there?

Sorry Im not gonna get into a tousle with the both of you but NO Dougie Brown?, No Oscar Crino?, No Jimmy Armstrong..
Crino was a GIANT but not long enough at South go leave someone from that lineup out, dougie brown simlarly amazing but also but only 2 seasons each at south i think? Armstrong shouldve been in there i agree but it was a personal choice that lineup as he was a bit before my time to judge hom accordingly!

Im still trying to fit Blair into that lineup even thought i could put him in as a keeper to feel better about myself.. hahaha

How long was Loza at South? 3 years? I never saw Jimmy play either but my dad and uncles rave about him... Same with Pyrgolios, and lets not forget Nestoridis, Kambouropoulos and Kokkinos.... ask anyone on the terraces over 60 and they will fight you for these players as first called into a starting XI. :P

Cant fault your argument in the least... lol

I blame @grazorblade for sending me down this rabbit hole, i was a happy lad until this point! Now i feel like ive let down half of south bc ive left them out for the other half! Spent the better part of 2 days now thinking of 1. How i still fit in steve blair (thats become an obsession in of itself). 2. How my SMFC could be improved tactically to fit everyone in 3. How it stacks up against city, marconi, knights and utd and 4. how to play 10 strikers out of position and who should actually be in the strikers role... if i get fired just wanted it out there as to who will take the blame! 🤣🤣😛

@Monoethnic Social Club you arent exempt in all of this either.. couldnt just have left me in my happy place, with my powerhouse 11, but no you had to go throw another spanner in the works with the classics! Shame on you doing that to a fellow SMFC supporter! 🤣🤣

Good post but one one thing for me:

‘Real fans real culture’ will likely aliente people.

you cannot tell me that a Liverpool shirt NPLclib bloke who had no connection at all to Liverpool is not more of a plastic than a 20 year old football fan who grew up with only the a-league. (Not saying they are but by definition?)

For me, we need to forget about this stuff. Who gives a fark? Also some of the clubs are not even really community based anyway.

The irony isn’t lost on anyone when you have a Melbourne storm, nba, nfl following NPL fan banging on about franchises

But I like victory so what the fuck would I know 😂 so maybe I’m a Maccas fan. But I also watch the Bulgarian second division 😂

The clubs have cool history.

I’d love to see awesome Hellas merch or strips based off decades ago. Knights have done this and it looked sick. Imagine all the cool retro shit clubs could do focusing on themselves, not a split.

Can’t wait for this to start :)
