The Western United Thread

Nah he’s just as bad as Mike. Stuck in his echo chamber, will reply to people he disagrees with and then blocks them because he’s incapable of engaging in honest debate or listening to views he disagrees with.

Not sure if he realises it or not but like Mike and some others, he definitely affects how South are perceived by fans of other clubs.
You realise these guys are just fans and in NO WAY does anything they say represent the club? Or anything I say for that matter...

You are new to football eh?

Both ? So you don't really have them.
Hahahah no mate, I meant both Mike and Pete..... They are just fans like I am, getting their point accross their personal social media.... and living rent free int eh heads of many new dawners :) The club's media team is on point through George Kou and the media team

There are all sorts of fan blogs, forums (even a thread on G&G FC) and matchday programs, but all fan driven, not from the club if thats what you mean?

Cheers, i did mean from the club though.

Sure, the club media team puts out funny little meme vids on tiktok, twitter and Instagram, keeps the website updated when club announcements go live and generally, as far as I can tell, are pretty light hearted and non-offensive to anybody. More a function of the clubs official stance on things as opposed to individual fan views... Ive never seen anything from the club attacking another club (even when WU tried to play at Lakeside the official rebuttal was pretty respectful, and President's messages in the past criticising FA for lack of progress and pushing for fundamental change to the structure of the game have been pretty generic and targeted at organisational level.

Just like any other club around the world I guess? No?

Question for an WU members (from a mate off forum) DId anyone get refunded their seasons memberships that had already paid up? Ive heard some fans are chasing refunds and can't get through to anyone?

They will more likely get the old Admin line of " get in the queue ". They are just creditors now, unfortunately.
They may be able to simply charge back the payment through the bank/credit card company. I've done it a couple of times for undelivered goods. In my experience it's been a pretty smooth process when the amount is relatively low like this.

I don’t think it is quite that easy when a company is in Administration tho.

And from a TheAustralian.com.au article by MarcoMonteverde:

"It’s understood that two other former United players – midfielder Rhys Bozinovski and striker Jake Najdovski – are close to securing deals to other A-League clubs."
Bovinovski is a heck of a coup, wish we got him

I wouldn't be surprised if Kou has been approached by one or two of the Melbourne A-League sides. He used to joke about Heart/City trying to hire him, not sure whether that was 100% a joke or not.

Maybe, but wouldn't hurt to try.
At the least the club could tell paid up fans now that any member out of pocket will be given free membership for a couple of season or a membership upgrade when they resume competition.

It is not as though all the seats will be filled and it is small dollars for some small piece of goodwill.

They haven't gone into liquidation as far as I know so their accounts may not be frozen.

They also have just freed up a shit ton of money from players' salaries and game related expenses which could help them trade out of their financial problems for a reset. It is not as though the gameday intake was a big factor and the loss of tv money is also not as big a factor as it was.

Worth trying the refund path indeed.

Lads let's move on from this stupid debacle.

We got the second division and a league starting also politics thread is going off stuff these lot

weird we don't have a sydney fc thread? You @Robbos @Sharkman84 should start one

I believe unless a young player comes from no where you guys now have the best cb in Alex Grant and best left back. Right back looking a slight weakness as I'd expect grant to be at an age where he declines but if you stay fit your defense has gone from a weakness to a strength

I think Okon offers more in defense than sena too, but only have u20s football to go off
