Its sort of like South Melbourne wearing "Oceania Club of the Century" on our shirts... incredibly prestigious....

Same, its just a shame we no longer have the power to poach the absolute cream from other teams, thinking of the likes of Trajcevski from Avondale, or a Lesiotis from Heidelberg.

We only take project players it seems.

Sadly those days are over.... We have to stop living on the reputation of the past glories and start making some new ones... We are our own biggest enemy sometimes....

We did it in the CT era when we poached the likes of Lujic, Eager, Theodore etc, these were the best players in their respective positions at the time. A lot has happened in a decade though, much more financial muscle from the rest.

We are playing catchup from the Esteban era now.
 
To build up the playing squad will take some time unfortunately. This is the result of the Esteban years.

I'm not too concerned about the Pasquali signing, as it may provide the player an opportunity to re-establish himself. If he has the hunger to prove himself, then it could be a decent signing. All will be proven on the pitch.

The squad needs at least 4-5 decent players. We've seen the official signing of Uchida who will add some quality to our attack. If Pasquali is decent in the middle of the pitch, then that should be the straight replacement for Iwakami. We need a goal scoring proven striker, winger, and maybe another attacking midfielder.

Unfortunately, we dropped the ball and allowed others to catch up. Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom to get a wakeup call that change is needed.

I'm hoping we start to see more of combination of signing up decent players with the promotion of at least one talented youth player per year.
