Are kiwis aware that in football matches the only stat that matters is goals for and against?

I have seen some hilarious takes on social media posting stats as if they won the match 😂

We really need to makes changes at the front. I won’t hold my breath though. Popa loves sucking the life out of a match and jagging a win

Must be a true English colony celebrating the moral victories?

hey TSF, many would have seen over the times my take on stats and all @ 442.
Analysis Paralysis - I smile at the repsonse's that I know draws the modern day picture of intel and that Wenger etc made use of but all that matters is one stat - who put the bloody ball into the net and how many times is all the stat that stands out.
Even with the least possesion all that matter is the score !
Point proven in Canbra, Wood missed his 2 good chances - we weren't truely effective till from the 74min onwards.
In the end its a simple game of checkers/chess made complicated.

Sutho, Mono and Helleno - my observations with no weight on them at all...

Sutho is speaking about people he knows. I object strongly on principle, but I do not outright reject an opinion formed on at least some level of genuine exposure and knowledge. To him it is valid based on his experience. It is up to others to show a different view (as Mono is) and see what comes of it.

A work colleague of mine with Italian heritage was pro Socceroos but wasn't he happy when Italy won that f'cking game.

I spent too many years 'hating' on people who came to this country to live but supported a different team. It was traitorous in my eyes. I have grown out of that - to a large extent by reading and discussing with people on this forum and its previous iterations. Anyone can support the team or teams they choose and it is up to me and my team to kick their butts on the pitch so I can hold that up to them like any competitive sporting environment. In fact, even when we lose my team is still the better team.

Sutho's broad brush labelling is obviously offensive by nature - as is any opinion voiced against a collective group based on a sample. I am sure he knows that. When it comes down to it though, it is not that much different to snipes at Scottish football and their players when the comments are intended as a blunt object.

For the ongoing battle between Sutho and Hellenic - they would argue happily about the right colour of cheese. Whether it is aleagues v npl, ethnicity v anglo, or whatever they just take shots to pass the time. The AMNT/Socceroos v Motherland is no different. It is an opportunity to take a shot and see how it lands. As I learned from watching the Power of One - anyone can throw a punch - the skill is in not letting them land.

Sutho's constant barrage is no different to Hellenic's constant barrage when it comes down to it.

For me and possibly others who are not involved - both are barrages. And yet it would be a loss to this place if neither was here.

Sutho - you do cross the line a bit.

Play on.

I have spent much of my Roar and Socceroos life finding the good parts in any game.

NZ deserve some plaudits for their play, and good on them for thinking they should have won the game.

Wish our media would get behind our football with such positive intent. :)

Was hoping the Auckland game would be a sellout but from what I've heard sales are so poor that they are actually giving away tickets for a buy one get one free deal. Maybe the NZ public know something we don't?.

Low kiwi mongrel behaviour as expected. Just absorb New Zealand into a state called East Australia and be done with it.

There's more of the fuckers here than there anyway.

Going from facebook only 7k worth of tickets have sold that's including the free ones. Might not even reach the 10k mark by game day.
Pretty piss poor effort by the kiwis, and i though the crowds for Canberra were a shambles.

Maybe they know this stat :
Overall, the teams have met 65 times in men’s football, with the Socceroos winning 41 to New Zealand’s 13, with 11 games finishing in draws - only two of them goalless.

It's New Zealand. Expectations weren't high.
