NPL 2025

Hoping for there to be 0 flares at the soccer is like hoping for the crime rate in a city to be 0, or wanting there to be 0 graffiti imo. It’s an unrealistic expectation and it’ll never be achieved, you’ll only ever be able to keep them to a minimum if that’s what you’re wanting and it’ll be a constant battle which is never won

Flares from South Melbourne this season = 0

Went to the game stood in the Preston side, first of all fencing this side with temporary fencing was just plain ridiculous, felt like a throwback to the 80s, big crowd and the viewing experience was poor especially for the Preston fans. As for the flares throwing them on the pitch at players and officials was just plain stupidity and again from a small section of fans.
For a progressive club that ground needs some serious upgrading the covered stand at the Preston side is way to far back and completely empty because the view is awful.
Finally the game itself thought the best team won no questions. Heidelberg bossed the game in all departments especially the midfield they are really on top of their game at the moment.
Just my thoughts as a neutral 😉
Where i would normally agree with you regarding the rediculousness of the fencing..... Given what behaviour has shown the last 2 weeks, one could easily argue that the measure was fitting and warranted as was proven. Oakleighs ground last week can attest that any benefits of modern amenities if offered will just get trashed anyway!
Should be up to clubs suddenly decide that said travelling suporters are unwelcome in the future any blame can only be sought internally!

Being at the game and on that side can you tell me what the problem with the speakers and the VIP room actually was for the need to attack them? Were the static equipment provoking the crowd?

Once off you get the benefit of the doubt, when its recurring problem then accountability needs to be sought!

You re full of shit mate..
1. What flares the one smoke one that stayed in the stand? Was that first? Did preston fans not light them at outside, and at the gate and inside? Thats what your comparing to flares thrown at players and officials? Or the later ones thrown at the side near the kids behind the goals! Do tell....
2. What flags are we comparing? The banner that read we are your fathers? The star of vergina which is not allowed bc its a protected greek flag yet raised Or The Preston official who was antagonising holding up the bullshit scarf on the pitch as they pushed on the fencing enticing them? Show me the massive array of greek flags on the oppoaite side you claim? Go on for those of us that were actually there!
3. As for the chants you claim (first) may i remind you the primary chant in question is the main one heared vs all other greek clubs the one relating to turks, bc till that point the only chant heard on the opposite end was 'alexander' was it not?

Dont know what game you were at but it sure as fuck wasnt this one!!

This shit needs accountability not apologists!
Mate, voulgari, gyftoi, tsigani, Hellas Hellas Makedonia, Greek music pre game and not to mention the fence. Ti allo theleis? That is provocation 101. Yes Preston supporters took the bait, and their side looked awesome from a spectator pov. But we cannot pin this solely on Preston!!

And i never said otherwise...
but explain away... so against sth when they were chanting TUrks and all the other shit they say, it was south fans provoking? when they raised the alexander sheet it was sth fans that offended? When they threw flares it was souths fault? Ok!
Against oakleigh when they trashed a stadium and all the above it was again oakleigh fans at fault? Ok!
Against the bergers when all that i mentioned previously happened in that order mind you, again it was the others...
I only see one trend here champ!

That anyone can look for excuses in the last 2 weeks seriously bypasses logic.....

I want to see what the apologists here will have to say when the same shit puts the championship belly up, and ruins it for the rsst of us over some bullshit that should have nothing to do with football... thats on all sides!

All I’m saying is it takes 2 to tango. In order for one to retaliate one must provoke. Heidelberg knew exactly what they were doing. Preston took the bait!!

To make it blatantly clear, bc it was my kids at the ground last night, and it was their section and direction the flares and other projectiles were thrown towards behind the goals (by the supposedly provoked) in some of those many instances (not one off as we saw), im certain mine didnt provoke anyone to warrant animal behaviour!

Generally takes 2 yes or in this case perhaps one is enough...

Ok so Im not aware that even happened just thought the PA system was poor, tbh we were stood at the opposite end to where all the flares were thrown amongst families mostly and as soon as the whistle was blown we were out of there so apart from the flares I didnt see anything going on like that

Thats the shame of it bc that part you were in was the part i referred to as exemplary, had it stayed like that we wouldnt be having this bullshit issue today!
