Soccer Ashes thread

Good one Izzo.

It's September in a world cup year. No one is going to do anything too risky.

Plan is obvious. Soften them up then bring the others.

84 vs 24 on Fifa ranking

A draw or a loss will see us going down on the ranking

New Zealand totally dominating the Socceroo's, expecting the All Whites to score a few in the 2nd half.

so much pace sitting on the bench they got us parked in our half you expecting a lot from our wing backs Jordy looks up for it but your asking alot. Just not sure where the goals come? Set pieces?

If the Socceroo's lose both games or draw and lose they will be out of Pot 2 world cup drawing and put in pot 3.

Terrible instructions for Silvera. Bring Hrustic more inward and have Silvera overlap and Yazbek linking up.

So much of it is wrong. Need Balard on the 6. Hrustic and Yazbek on the 8. Silvera overlapping. Bos is a shining light. Metcalfe had a few handy touches given our low possession.

You could see Boyle was frustrated that's why he kept taking the ball. Got to admire that.

I feel we got the better players but the Kiwis play the better football, so the question is why can’t we aspire to do more as a football nation rather than accept mediocrity with the football we play?

Bos our best player.
Get the impression that this side could play better off their own bat, without Poppa as coach.

All Whites have a far better midfield then the Socceroo's, Poppa is gonna need to sub some players and change his tactics.

We certainly aspire. The issue is we get on the pitch with poor coaching coaches and tactics. A lot of the players are in worse roles.

This is a friendly so we're learning very quickly what isn't viable. Let's not flatter NZ too much. This is reminiscent to the Brisbane friendly. Good at getting the ball and a firm pass but they're not the biggest on ideas and their squad is also highly competitive for the world cup. Many of our current 11 think they're already going.

This is the standard Popovic pattern of play. Sit deep, suffocate them in the back third, and hope to score on the break. Very frustrating. We have players there who can do much more than this.
