Alright, come clean, who sent this thread to Popovic? I'm really glad sanity has prevailed in numerous cases. Most boxes ticked. Elder and Devlin are slightly more nostalgic picks but they've worked really hard and would've been interesting to get a look at. Notice how the old guard, Ryan aside, don't even leave an emptiness? This should've been done ages ago.

How good not to see Caceres, Borrello and Taggart either.

Finally they got both microphones half alright for a press conference.
 
Slight note is 25, not 26 named. Shows one more name we may want later could've been added. Injuries really do shore up space for certain players and positions.

Agree hugely disappointing for Elder and I'd say that shuts the door on any potential Socceroos career. Farrell also coming through.

I do though honestly like the trial of Silvera at LWB rather than the selection of Elder, purely just to get a look at Silvera in this new role and to have the inverted option.

The ship has certainly said for Elder. You'll then have people say he was never really good enough which just isn't true. On the basis of prerequisites for a call up he certainly fits.

Just so nice to see Silvera back as he gave Indonesia away a good go himself and you scroll along the named and see zero caps only too realise these guys should have had some already.
 
SO.....the inner joy after seeing this squad can't be put into words haha but genuinely. Perhaps Popa had planned this all along?? Maybe he plays this squad and Behich still starts the first WC group game and Duke makes the plane to North America??

Time will tell but in the meantime HOLY SHIT AM I PUMPED TO SEE HOW THIS SQUAD PLAYS ON THE PARK!!!

That's the question. I'm grateful for what the older guard have done but I'd rather go with these swift exciting young players to announce them to the world stage. Ryan and Irvine must be in but not Duke or Behich. Do we really want the world media to be wondering why a Melbourne City left back keeps passing it back or crossing it to not beat the first man is ahead of a Feyenoord player?

Maybe it's Popovic trolling us even more by picking the best squad for the worst friendly window. The next is a massive step up given the new playing environment and teams being that more in season.
 
Perhaps we will see Behich, Brattan, Cacares and Borello back once the A-League has started.

It's going to happen even if the newbies turn it on this window. Don't mind Caceres but as an age factor I'd rather try and see if we can get a Kalik golden run and win an Asian Cup.

Won't be able to watch either live but that's alright. Made a promise to teach during friendlies or the preliminary round but nothing was getting in the way of the last qualifiers. WC will be during the European night and I'll be wide awake for our games.
