NPL 2025

A few competition reviews going on around Australia, should be completed over the next month or two.

Over the next couple of years, the top three tiers of the SA pyramid are moving to 12 > 12 > 12+12 (north and south conferences in div 3). There are also rumours of a more aggressive expansion to 14 > 14 > 12+12. They are also trying to join the three amateur leagues to the federation, about 80 odd clubs!

Also reviews happening in Tassie. Rumours of expanding NPL from 8 to 10, and bringing back promotion and relegation (which they had very briefly). This might be as early as next season.


Does anyone have anything to report from any competition reviews going on?

They're complaining about the Port Melbourne pitch now. Simply a club that refuses to ever give credit to an opposition club.

As for the finals part of me is glad Oakleigh got the home final against Preston as im expecting it to be a bloodbath when all those cafe idiots leave eaton mall to go to the ground and find 1,000 Preston supporters there.

Unfortunately i heard today that Oakleigh may not be playing at their home ground for the finals due to the new stand still incomplete. I hope it's incorrect information, but we'll wait and see.

Since you’re playing Preston it’s probably going to be at home of the Matilda’s

The grandstand will be a convenient excuse for Oakleigh not to host it, even though Aki said last week that no venue change will occur.

Aki said yes after the game when a few of us asked if the game will be at Jack Edwards and with fans. I wouldn't take his word for anything but dont see it being played at Jack Edwards. Limited grand stand space that may not be ready and facilities that wouldn't be up to scratch for the occasion.

They wont be able to adequately segregate the travelling supporters and the same entrance is a recipe for disaster.
