The Western United Thread

The crowd stats are highly misleading. Auckland distorts the true picture.

Take Auckland out and you have the figures that should be compared to last year, and that picture is far less positive.

Furthermore, the 9% on ratings comes on a commercially unsustainable low base and the ratings are STILL highly problematic in terms of negotiating the next tv deal.

I want the A League to succeed as much as anyone, but APL can spin it any which way - the League is still in deep trouble.

There seems to be no plan of any kind except hang on by the fingernails and spin the stats. The APL is a dismal failure.

I just read that artcle, what a financial disaster, the inclusion of Western United has been a big flop, poor crowds and its losing money.

Whilst I generally support expanding the A-League, it has be viable and done in a measured way.

I guess Western United's days are numbered, whoever owns that club can't keep losing money at this rate, and will pull the plug, unless they have done so already.

Team 11 was always the way to go.... Gallop got lost on we will build a 15 K stadium....

Arguably in the top 12 worst decisions made by the old FFA

Nah, that would’ve failed too.

The way to go was promoting Adelaide City and Brisbane Strikers, to create derbies for Utd and Roar💡

And Canberra when they actually had someone ready to go - instead of offering the backers to go to Sydney or Melbourne and making them walk

Pretty horrific if it's in the top 12, you could argue the top 200th worst decision from them is still pretty bad.

Interesting, likelihood of macarthur following suit? Maybe maybe they’re a slightly more stable an entity. If they weren’t so out of touch they’d give the Macarthur license to Wollongong
