Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Another 1-1 draw for South in the league against Green Gully at Lakeside Stadium, which isn't really ideal going into the Dockerty Cup final and Australia Cup round of 16. Both goals scored in the first half as well so a scoreless second half also.
 
That was my last game for the regular season, as I head off on holiday on Friday for 6 weeks to Hellas.

The game was a dead rubber for us, and I suspect we 'experimented', hence our disjointed effort (not so much for Green Gully ... I just realised I did not see Abdullah. Did he even play?!).

I will be in Athens on Saturday, so I will attempt to get the Athens Sports Bar to show the Dockerty Cup Final (at least the 2nd half) from 10am.

But I will be back for the NSD, and according to president Maikoussis, it is all systems go (or something). I think he intimated that they are releasing the full fixture this week. This is important as I will be travelling to Sydney for our scheduled game against Olympic in October/November.

Aamir Abdallah was named in the starting 11 for Green Gully and got game time for them but must have been subbed off.

My god hahaha chill!

Terrible advice though! DO NOT wear your South shirt in Greece, those people are bloody crazy, they might mistake you for a 2nd division Greek club or something, and cause you all kinds of danger. Trust me, keep your soccer stuff at home, it's not worth the risk.

a bit of a "nothing" match.. second half was totally toothless from us, you could tell players weren't willing to risk injuries for our cup games coming up... we let Gully dictate the match and didnt hold possession.. our worst outing in about 2 months.

Don't worry about the NSD, all I want is some of that Butter Chicken the girls were dished up post match to be on the canteen menu in the social club :)

if it works for stocky haaland it can work for all of us! Heres hoping we will be too busy celebrating to worry about the finer "physical" points! 🤣🤣🤣
