NPL 2025

The game played in the boardroom huh.

So what's next? Did I hear they're thinking about joining Victoria?
Will be interesting - I doubt they'd get into the NPL/State League setup there... might be referring to the Bendigo league (which I believe is where the Shepparton/Cobram/Tatura/etc clubs they used to compete with in the NESL/Goulburn Valley now compete.

In most cases, all except Mackay, the regional teams withdrew of their own volition as far as I can recall. Mackay wanted to keep going (they were in FQPL1, i.e., the league below NPL, when they were kicked out having been relegated a season or two earlier), and they weren't happy when FQ excluded them. But yes, they did have their local FQPL3 comp to go into.

The situation is slightly different to ACT though, given air travel is involved for Brisbane clubs, and both bus and air travel for Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba clubs. And in reverse for Mackay. Plus local buses between grounds and airports.

Cheers, great to know. Do you know how the current NBL1 manages to run their comp with all that travel? And they also included Darwin up until this season! It looks very similar to what the old regional inclusive NPL Queensland had.

send them to NPL2 in NSW.

cant be worse than when clubs and juniors used to travel to bathurst once a year.
It can be, because the clubs will complain about that, like they did when they competed in the Youth league (which is the reason they came to Canberra in the first place)

Sure, the NSW set up meant more than once a year (I think twice? Riverina Rhinos were given 2/3 home games rather than 1/2 - I think that was the main issue)
