One of the best recent A League seasons was during covid as the local youngsters played and did really well. The league needs to keep pushing those stories.

This issue with recent years has been the funding cuts, youth gave the owners a path through COVID, the funding cuts seem to have had an almost "Mariners" effect on the league. Where clubs have had to cut back on the more expensive aging journeyman.

The key to it all was youth teams in the NPL. Started in 2015 in NSW, meant the talented 17/18 year-olds were playing men of a decent standard. Any one that has played at both levels knows how physical men can be. It meant the gap isn't too far from there to t eh Aleague.
 
Callum Niuewenhof with a full game and Cameron Devlin with a start and 73 minutes for Hearts in a 4-0 win over fourth tier Dumbarton in the Scottish League Cup.

Raphael Borges Rodrigues with 45 minutes and a goal for Coventry in a 2-0 win against League Two Bristol Rovers in a friendly.

Cameron Burgess started for Swansea in a 2-1 friendly loss to League Two Cheltenham.

Yep I've always said the bright side of the money going down hill was the rise of young players and imo the rise in quality of the league. Have you noticed there is barely any journeyman playing anymore? We used to call our league the recycle league it was a disgrace. Now we have the perfect blend of young players and few experience heads around them and a sprinkle of overseas players.

I hope this never changes if the league takes off again. This has been some of the best years of the a-league imo. It's so exciting seeing so many young players moving on and more coming through. We are finally becoming what this league should be... a great standard development league.

There are definitely still journeyman and players swapping clubs that happens to much for my liken

ah 2006 born. Still that's pretty decent

I think Brett holman was that last u19 to get regular game time in a decent euro league for a relegation fighting eredivisie team

I'm hoping we get 4 u20s in Pearman, skoko, irankunda and Bennie
