NPL 2025

ACT will need a refresh:
  • Technically no one being relegated from NPL to CPL
  • CPL will have - to my understanding - the top 3 being promoted to NPL (I believe it's actually the 3 highest that meet a criteria, but that isn't 100% clear yet)
  • All other clubs that aren't Yoogali and Wagga City will be relegated to CLO1
  • No promotion eligibility from CLO1 to CPL
Can't believe they can make this crap up on the fly and change the rules for a season DURING the season, so many integrity issues.

I might add a note in there for now saying Capital Football might change their rules mid-season 🫤 then I'll update it for next year when they finalise their ruling.

No disrespect to APIA but from a Melbourne perspective Marconi was the BIG Sydney team... and always drew a crowd down here... Sydney Croatia and Olympic a very close second but Marconi was always the one clash that stood out....

Marconi never drew crowds like Sydney United and Sydney Olympic did, that's just facts.

The Wikipedia page for the final season of the nsl shows all the offical attendances for all the games. That was at the bitter end, and crowds were generally smaller than they were in the decade before that but probably gives a good idea of what the core support of the clubs was. In my opinion getting back to that level for the championship would be a good goal and not a bad result given everything that the clubs have gone through in the 20 years since

@LFC

Josh Symonds left APIA.

i heard he is gone to Bonnyrigg White Eagles for $3k a week.

Ucchino is another one going to Bonnyrigg.

They are paying big to stay in NPL2 :ROFLMAO:
I dare say you’re probably not a fan of Bonnyrigg and revel in their situation given the heated rivalry, but sad tbh where they are now. 10 years or so ago they were in a similar position to what Rockdale are now and probably would have been involved in the discussion around the championship.

Hurstville Zagreb to go up.

Bonnyrigg to go down.

🍻

APIA have a shot to win the whole thing and they leave their club just before the end of the season. If Bonnyrigg are pulling this sort of thing it reminds me of Mounties. They also pay players big for some reason ( because they can, Mounties are huge ) even though they'll never amount to anything in a football sense.

This is it, you don’t need a world class stadium or crowd numbers rivalling the afl or even a league for that matter, you just need to offer an enjoyable match day experience

Marconi in my experience, they’re the bigger club. But that’s also a factor, in an era where traditional clubs already draw less interest than on the heyday, the Italian community is split again between 2 clubs.

For what’s it’s worth I’ve been to many Sydney united games over the years as an interested neutral or otherwise so I’m well aware of what your support is like. Have said it once and will say it again, that Australia cup final display was one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever experienced in Australia having been to many a league derbies too. Was genuinely like stepping into a stadium in the Balkans
Werribee City have a DJ so they are the bigger club.

Get them back and packing Lakeside!
Thats the hope.... A great as Sydney Olympic opening match is.... it would be so much better having Marconi and Sydney United in our group from the get go....

Anyway, the FA are starting to tour the tropehy around to clubs, lets hope the marketing builds a bit of momentum... only 3 months to go and not much in the away of promotion... The clubs need to pull their fingers out as well... An announcement regarding the RFQ is due fairly soon I hope?

I know don't get me started on promotion. Also will it be shown on TV, YouTube..? TF is going on. At the same time, the clubs aren't forced into silence. They can start promoting themselves.

People seemed to like this last time, so here’s a couple of the scenes from the past week at Marconi. Some are mine, some from the club socials. Nice to see some foundation club members in attendance for the opening of the refurb
