Agree.. key players need to be rested here.. wed is all the money...we will atleast know result of altona game to see if we need to play stronger or lighter

I think our biggest concern is ensuring we dont swap spots with Preston, last thing we need is going there again a week and a bit later for an elimination final. I'd rather avoid them but if we get them at least it would be at home. Hopefully Dandy City do us a favour.

Preston 0-0. That means if we win against Heidelberg we are guaranteed to finish at least fourth.

Third spot still remains a slim chance. We’ll need to win at CS George Cross and hope for Hume City to take points off Avondale. That way, we avoid Preston and Oakleigh until the grand final if we were to qualify.

Definitely ideal. Hume playing avondale final day of season at home won't be an easy game for avondale

We just need 1 point to secure 4th.
With the 3 games in a week it will be hard to win them all. I think Avondale will beat hume as hume have nothing to play for.

Barring an absurd sequence of results its a big show elimination final...hopefully at home.

Just depends on if preston appeal the extra points deduction they have till Tuesday to appeal i believe it said in the press release

If we are to assume our engine room may need a break tomorrow, who comes in? I keep forgetting that we no longer have Pope, Leech etc anymore.

I did hear that Mikkola, Lampard and Eliopoulos may feature.

Hume will get the week off in any case, so they might play most of their first team starters. The Hume coach might rest some players if they are carrying any knocks.

This is the problem. By reducing the squad to reduce costs, we have unfortunately reduced options to rest players. Playing Leech and Pope against Heidelberg might have been a handy option.

To be honest, I don’t want to see Retre used at all against Heidelberg. He needs to be fresh for Preston.

If those rumours are true about Mikkola, Lampard and Eliopoulos, then you can rest 3 players at a minimum. More importantly, we’ll have 3 players fully rested and ready to go for NPL finals, potentially Australia Cup fixtures and the Australian Championship.

Ideally i would have rested Pasquali, Gianokopoulos, Retre and Uchida but the majority of them will have to play due to lack of options.
Agree... been busting my head as to what will limit risk in light of wednesday...in short we will need 2 of the returning 3 to start here (with messa, cox, nkomo in) so we dont ressurect the dead..

The only midfield option on the bench we have is Skapoulas. Surely he would start tomorrow. That could see Giannakopoulos and Pasquali play a half each.

If Sinisa goes down the path of rotating the squad, Nkwomo would surely start if Lampard doesn’t play, along with Mesorouni and Lackay. You would leave Uchida Juach, and Yoo on the bench. They would only come on if required.

We really need Eliopoulos, Lampard and Mikkola to play tomorrow.

Problem is that Heidelberg is going to go in hard given it is last chance saloon for them.

Team selection and lineup was a joke. We've gifted these bunnies 6 points this yr. We could have done what Preston did yesterday and just played most of them for 40-45 mins and it would have been fine. Instead we leave out 8 players entirely. Now we need a draw against George Cross to hold the home final and they are way better than Heidelberg.

I have mixed feelings here.. expected more from those that played and believed we could hold out atleast the draw... the choices just got more odd as the game went on, but if i take the wed game ill be ok with it... no guarantee at all we will though and that will be a bloody issue.. thought Sinisa would know he is playing his job on these ourcomes unless its all predetermined....

I would have rested Pasquali and Gianokopoulos, we could have had a stacked bench and rotated experience for experience. Once Ramazani came out it was all over for us.

Pretty big financial implications if we lose the home final as that elimination final against Preston will be bigger than the gf.

I’m caught in two minds on how to react to today’s loss to Heidelberg.

I’m annoyed that we gave up a lead and allowed them to win. I’m annoyed that if the result had stayed 1-1, then we would have locked in fourth spot and next week’s match against CS George Cross would have been a dead rubber.

However, I’m mindful of what is at stake. This is our best opportunity to make the Australia Cup grand final. It also presents the club another opportunity to potentially host a semi final and attract a 2,000-3,000 crowd that would be a major pay day.

Today’s match showed how bad Heidelberg is. We hardly had any first team line up starters and we were in control of the match. A full strength South team would have smacked Heidelberg 3-0.

As others have said, once Ramazani went off, it was a case of the kids trying to hang on. There were hardly any experienced players remaining on the pitch. With the loss of Menelaou in the middle of the pitch, we started to lose the midfield battle.

We now need to get a point at CS George Cross. Happy to take an uneventful 0-0 draw.
