Sign Up Now!Mikkola and Lampard are certainly missed..I still dont understand how our corners are so bad. You got City teenagers delivering crackers and ours purw garbage. Set pieces could decide the tight games and we have nothing going for us.
You are right. Our set pieces have been awful. Surely they practice corner taking and set piece free kicks at training ?I still dont understand how our corners are so bad. You got City teenagers delivering crackers and ours purw garbage. Set pieces could decide the tight games and we have nothing going for us.
We need them back by the Preston match.Mikkola and Lampard are certainly missed..
Having Lampard back will mean we can rest another regular first team starting line up player.Lampard said himself at the Australian cup game against Adelaide that he would be back against Heidelberg at Lakeside
Should have and could have finished top this season with the sqaud we had (and have).... OFC was an experiment that showed us our deficiencies beyond the forst 11, at least I hope it showed us our deficiencies... Next season will be better. We have thrown away so many points this season. Even accounting for the madness of May, we still could have finished second. Very frustrating.
Ifs and buts and coconuts aside. Its our own fault... No asterisk for me...Apologies for interjecting into a conversation which doesn’t really concern an outsider like myself, but doesn’t this years npl have a massive asterisk next to it from a South Melbourne perspective just by virtue of the fact it clearly wasn’t priority for the club for a substantial stretch of the season
Pope on the score sheet for Georgies, he is going to score against us and I will be so sad.Having Lampard back will mean we can rest another regular first team starting line up player.
I don’t know how the South football department are going to manage this, but we will need to fully rotate the squad. That means some players may be forced to play 3 matches. It also may mean there will need to be significant in match player management in order to protect the players.
Right now is where we needed Leech and Dovison to help out with resting players.
We’ve only got a very short turnaround between the Australia Cup quarterfinal and the Round 26 fixture away to CS George Cross. That last match may need more fresh legs to carry the burden.
Don't give a shit how many are there or even if I can get a ticket (Ill stand in the park on a ladder if I have to) as long as we walk out of there with a win.. NOTHING ELSE can distract from that.Ideally we will be allocated the entire behind goal and a small portion of the outer wing. I'd be dissapointed if we werent given 1000-1200 tickets for this.
I know some Preston fans will disagree but this would have been a bigger and better spectacle at lakeside, with the opposite grandstand we could have given them 2500-3000 tickets and had a legit 7-8k crowd (real figure not exagerated)
lets not lose our minds.. a decent squad player but not for a star team!Pope on the score sheet for Georgies, he is going to score against us and I will be so sad.
Too much up in the air here... come what may now!!Looking ahead across the next 9 days, we have the following commitments:
23rd Aug - Hellas v Heidelberg
26th Aug - Preston v Hellas
29th Aug - CS George Cross v Hellas
That's 3 matches in the space of 6 days. Just brutal.
Assuming we finish 3rd/4th on the NPL Victoria standings, win our NPL Elimination Final and qualify for the Australia Cup semi final, then our future playing schedule would be:
4/5/6 September - NPL Victoria Elimination Final
8/9/10 September - Australia Cup Semi Final
11/12/13 September - NPL Victoria Semi Final
Just to get to both Grand Finals of the NPL Victoria and Australia Cup competitions will take a herculean effort. In the worst case scenario, both our NPL Elimination Final and Australia Cup semi final goes into extra time, then the players will have played an additional 60 minutes in just 3 days. That would be a disaster. Do not forget that both Hume City and Oakleigh have no cup commitments and will be fully fresh for their semi finals after a week's break.
Sinisa will need to rotate the squad fully, otherwise the team will simply run out of legs.
Nope, hes played in the cup. That prick Bonada cup tied???
Agree - he was good value to come off the bench and provide fresh legs for 15-20 minutes. With the quality of our midfield with Pasquali, Retre and Giannakopoulos, he was never going to start.lets not lose our minds.. a decent squad player but not for a star team!
