Poor crowds, No ambition, Bad management/squad selection, lacklustre coaching, over-sized stadium and destined for the spoon season on season.
CCM and the Nix both cum good after years in the dumps but I see a point of no return for the once titled Roarcelona.

Unfortunately, as a former diehard supporter, you may well be right. The Bakries appear to have no interest and Suncorp is like a concrete tomb.
 
What's the benefit of the Bakries holding on to Brisbane for so long? Some sort of political position to leverage? Like anyone gives a fuck.
 
There is a definite lack of interest in spending big for success, and the decision to make a sale on terms that are so clearly against the best interests of the club looking forward showed the lack of care about us being a big club again.

The owners may be holding out for FA to buy their license back, but they are spending more over time than they would ever recoup, so that can't be it.

While they seemingly run the place on the lowest budget they can get away with they are still lining the club up with good, well intentioned admin and football department staff who I think are doing a fantastic job with small playing resources.

Churn out a couple more Herrington's and they may consider their financial situation effective - while still being able to say they own a club in the top tier of Australian football.

I think there is an element of putting our country in its place by the owners, but still hoping to use the club to bring through Indonesian players as well as young Aussies to improve their sporting stable.

I am still hopeful we will be competitive come day 1 of the new season, because we do have players with potential. Nam is a great player to watch and the owners did not have to sign him so there is some vision and aspirations there.

Just a case of fans (me) not understanding what the future vision of the club is. Even if this season is actually preparation for next season it would be nice to know.

Wait for a few weeks into the season then judge where the club is headed is my suggestion.
 
So my opinion is a lot of the owners don't really care about the league. But the football people I'm sure do.

From what little I know the suits at Brisbane kaz and Zack are trying to build the club. I don't know how good they are but obviously Brisbane hasn't improved. Wellington don't do much either no idea about their owners.

A lot of clubs just platueing or going backwards

Kaz and Zac are doing a great job as far as I get to see.

We have not had the unpaid bill fiascoes of the pre-era, and they are making sure that we fans have a chance to hear what is happening in the club.

It probably irritates you no end, but I think these are a couple of suits who have the best interests of the game at heart and are doing what they can about it.

We are playing half our games at Kayo again.

Suncorp is a millstone for us. Stadiums Queensland is not going to have the stadium go to waste so they will not look at anything that might take custom away - like a boutique stadium would.

I don't blame the Bakries for not building or upgrading 'our own' stadium. They are not Australian citizens so they would be spending money on something they may not own - or that can be taken from them.

The stadium issue is one of those things that sits outside our areas of control so I don't include it in our woes.

Kayo is a better size, but it alienates and excludes a lot of southsiders. I'd rather have numbers turn up to an echoing Suncorp once we finally start playing good football (however long that might be) than lose half our supporters by playing in a more economical stadium that people just will not or cannot get to for whatever reasons.

I don't think the Bakries have no interest - I think they have little interest in the day to day running but would love for us to do well with what little they have allowed us. But again, I look at Nam and think he is a signing that is founded on the potential and desire to succeed.

I guess our football department tracked him and spoke to him but the Bakries had to approve payment for him. Are we stuck with not being able to identify and recruit bargain quality?

Surely the Bakries would approve reasonable signings based on Stajic and Nam. Maybe we have signed too many unsuccessful imports over the last seasons for the Bakries to allow just any 'name' signing that might not work out and be a waste of both an Aussie place and money.

A lot of that is well above my paygrade. I am not entirely convinced that the Bakries are the ultimate bane for us though - not knowing what other players we might have suggested that they knocked back or what players we have not even found to run by them. Herrington's sale is the only one I know of that they disagreed with and felt the need to explain to us.

Mr rimb you have misunderstood me. I want clubs to do well especially Brisbane been ages since you've won anything. It's the suits who don't do anything for the game I can't stand
 
To be fair I don't think anyone saw his increase so quickly...

The issue is the city of Brisbane does not have a 15 to 20 k stadium... that's not the owners fault.

Perry Park should have been am Olympic development but alas anti Football insured it did not happen.

Suncrop is way to big but where to go

I understood your position - just amusingly saying it irritates you to find some suits are doing a good job :).

"Been ages since you won anything..." - get stuffed. We avoided the wooden spoon again only last season. That was a win.

You will find one day your persepctive on good and bad, win or loss can vary with the circumstances.

Even still the future money would have provided a lucrative return on investment depending on the transfer fee.

tbh I think they best thing for the Roar right now would be local competition in gold Coast

That would be equally challenging for me to travel to the Gold Coast.

I live pretty close to Kayo and would prefer we stay in Brisbane over that convenience.

It is where the club has its roots and where people 'signed up for'.

I agree. But did they actually know that Colorado would on-sell him rather than simply extend him until he left them out of contract.

There was only ever speculation that we would get a future return and who could have stated with financial certainty that Herrington would have been a Socceroo locked in and shining at this World Cup even? I think there was a reasonable enough 'certainty' of his prospects to keep the future sales clause but then I am not a billionaire and had no money invested so it is an easy call for me to make.

Ah I don't want this to be a whole thing. I'm hoping Brisbane can do well I don't know if valko can take you there though but we'll see
 
Well since they have a monopoly on queensland teams in the top division i guess ill watch

I think everyone wants to see Brisbane do well for once even if they play football ugly under Valko. They have a whole state to them self to select players from but yet they crash and burn season after season. I don't think the club is poison like WSW who spend big for no return its just that i feel that the club itself doesn't know what it wants to be.

I meant as a local rivalry.
briefly it worked well with Gold Coast united
