My mum took pride in reaching deep into the peasant cooking when we were doing it tough financially. You have no idea how long a pot of beans and chorizo can last. Day three and we were ready to riot. But now I make it at home every now and then. I love it and everybody thinks it's some GOURMETTE shit

Mate, youve made me hungry and brought back memories... Growing up we would turn our noses up at the "wog food" we got dished up every day, now we "order" the favourites from mum or the mother in law the night before we visit and spend all week dreaming about it...

Not sure how many votes it will change but It's definitely a more important issue to normal people than the Japanese melons they are going on about in Canberra.

Manja so Kompiri is still a staple at my house. So are piperki polnati but they are gourmet shit. Maznik is still a treat but we haven't made it for a while. That one takes a lot of work.

He could speak royal court worthy 16th century Ming Mandarin and he wouldn't win back the Chinese community in Australia. They know what conservatives really think of them now.

Like half of them are still Liberals by the way. He absolutely could do so especially how Labor are ruining the country.

It's not a grudge. Just a realisation that they were cheap votes for a party willing to throw them under a racist bus the minute things got tough. A vast proportion of Chinese-Australian community are entrepreneurial small business owners. It's culturally in their DNA. Exactly the people the Liberal party claim to represent.

If you look at state election results the seats with the most Chinese people are mostly Liberal seats (in NSW: Epping, Oatley, Ryde, Willoughby, etc). If you look at federal results you have a point but Banks, Bennelong, Bradfield and Chisholm were Liberal not long ago, and Berowra still is.
