Agreed. But you said ā€œpeople don’t want thatā€ which is not true. Football fans do want that.
I was referring to people not wanting or being enticed to football due to ethnic based drama. That's not to say misbehaviour at the A League isn't a deterrent either. An outsider wants no bar of Greece vs North Macedonia fighting (uncommon I'm sure) nor Sydney FC and Victory clowns throwing bar stools in and out of a pub.

The reasons active died down have been well documented. It was a combination of factors. Ruined by politicians, police and idiots.
I think it was ruined by people who thought it was OK to set off flammable objects in crowded spaces but maybe that's just me.

We call it a Προνόμιο (I had to google translate Franchise ... and this hitherto unknown word was the answer)
Sorry mate, not sure what Google says but a franchise business in Greece is a Ī”Ī¹ĪŗĪ±Ī¹ĪæĻ‡ĻĪ·ĻƒĪ¹Ī± or more popularly a φραντζαις lol

Have said before, I know I’m extremely biased and I’ll probably cop for saying so it but I think South Melbourne and Marconi would have been low hanging fruit as a starting point re extending an olive branch to old soccer. Direct swap out for western and MacArthur. Two most successful clubs from the nsl era, produced the most Socceroos. Probably the 2 most financially sound, both have ready made suitable facilities. Relatively low risk in terms of crowd issues/bad publicity etc etc Then potentially open to more down the line if they showed themselves willing and able.

Could argue Preston or Sydney United potentially based on passionate support alone but they probably don’t tick those other boxes.

Thats if you wanted to go that route which I’m sure many would debate

out of curiosity what's the other boxes we don't tick?

how people quickly forget why the A-league was created, and how our clubs were left to 'die'. I find it amusing how one could still possibly enter the AL (SM Hellas) and that we are still here and still relevant.

i for one hope we never enter the AL this way, unless of course the pyramid opens up.

Again, just putting it forward as a hypothetical. Could be wrong, I don’t know the finances of Sydney united but i was under the impression they maybe don’t have access to as much capital as south or Marconi. But the main one is that the fa are clearly afraid of Sydney united and Preston’s supporter bases as much as they love to use them in marketing when it suits. Again, I’m talking from their perspective, not my own. I’ve never had any issues with Sydney united or person fans personally. No offence intended. Potentially facilities as they stand might require more work to bring up to perceived a league standard too

no offence taken.

South & Marconi are the two most successful in the NSL Era I'm not disputing that. However, I could argue and say Sydney United have been far more successful post NSL in the last 20 years than Marconi, and we've never been relegated.

The most Socceroo's is debatable, as we'd be up there with 60+

Our finances, well our owners are very rich, they just don't reach into their pockets lol. Then again we know what awaits us in terms of restrictions, fines, security and police costs and its not worth it for us.

Our stadium and facilities will need an upgrade (finish the grandstand)

Failed 3 times FFS

Brisbane Strikers in 97 hurt the most.
Dont have to tell me about failed GFs... Youve gotta be in the last match of the season...

Your point about us still both being here is the most important of the thread. Win lose, up, down, sideways or whatever league, the heart wants what the heart wants.

In the end all these things could be worked through, if the desire was there. The main thing is that the fa are scared of Sydney united and Preston’s supporters, probably unfairly so. So they’d more than likely find any excuse to not bring them in

Apart from last year (and this one I guess) we finished top 3 in the league more often than not. Sur we've had a few lean years but "Cup team" we are not.. still to make the Australia Cup final, and have terrible record in penalties
