I thought Heidelberg's first 15 minutes after half time was going to be a portent of a big finish .... but they just withered away.
They never looked threatening, at no stage did i think they could get in behind the Preston backline, they were slow all over the field and a lot of their challenges were desperate. Absolutely nothing in common with last years side that looked like they could score every time they went past the halfway line.

The last 15 mins reminded me of our gf loss to oakleigh in 2024 where we just launched it long to the cb now playing forward cos we couldnt move the ball.

Anastasiadis wont be there next yr. Heidelberg financially cant go with the Prestons and Avondales, that was likely the last shot at silverware.

Look at the midseason recruitment. South was able to sign both Juach and Retre that Heidelberg really focused on acquiring. South blew them out of the water with the deals clinched. Look at the difference Retre and Juach have made to our starting XI. Its an arms race that only South, Preston, Avondale and Oakleigh can match.

Rumours are circulating that Johnny A isn't very happy at Heidelberg, so it wouldnt be a surprise if he departed Olympic Village.

A heavy police and security presence expected tomorrow night at Leichhardt Oval for our round of 16 clash with APIA in the Aus Cup, all because the kids that jumped the field to celebrate with the players after that dramatic penalty shoot-out win. APIA will need to fork the bill which will be over $15k.

On one hand the FA will use that footage to promote the game, the raw feelings, the good news story, then punish clubs on the other hand for the exact same reason they are promoting.

So this fixture is now deemed high risk. FA, constantly shooting themselves in the foot, useless cunts.

Pretty risky fixture imo. Can certainly vision LFC turning rabid and attacking Croats at random etc and vice versa

Ridiculous decision by Football Australia to request this level of security.

I can only imagine what Preston will be forced to pay in security costs if its a Preston v South quarter final.

We saw what they did to us in the Championship last season, unfortuantley nothing has changed and it will continue to happen.

These measures will be in place for us and Preston during the championship, just wait and see.

Stay off the field then, like the majority of the world do, well, apart from Catholic Scottish clubs ;)

They were responding to fenian scum invading their pitch. Still not right though.

which is fair enough, any fan at home would do the same.

i just dont like the FA's overkill approach and using the kids running on the field as an excuse for this game to be "high risk" in a fixture that never had any violence.
