It was a carpet until that junior tournament was played on it. Just doesn’t seem to be recovering. To be fair it doesn’t seem to be alone in Sydney right now, seems like there’s a few pitches in not great condition, Sydney football stadium, the Olympic stadium, Leichhardt oval all seemed not great when I’ve seen games played at them recently. I don’t know much about it but maybe it’s hard to repair pitches this time of year. Albeit it hasn’t been a particularly wet winter in Sydney this year, plenty of sunny days etc

You just can't play football in winter in Australia.

Pitches can't handle it.

i just checked via DRIBL thru NPL NSW.

both APIA Leichhardt Tigers and Sydney United both play next Saturday before one of them has quarter final against Melbourne Victory at Leichhardt Oval or Sydney United Sports Centre which will very likely set to be midweek either Tuesday August 18 or Wednesday August 19 due to fact Sydney United v APIA Leichhardt Tigers on Sunday August 23 at Sydney United Sports Centre.

They probably had this as a high risk fixture, police spent a whole day stalking Melbourne during their last tour of duty to Parramatta and probably thought this would be a way to avoid it.
