NPL 2026

Preston deserved winners in the 2026 Dockerty Cup. The crowd was well over 5,000. Good turnout.

And to think Football Victoria had these big matches played in the past at the Home of the Matildas. Just beggars belief.

UNSW 1-3 Sydney Olympic

Massive win for Olympic, takes them off the bottom of the ladder and out of the automatic relegation spot for the first time since start of the season. St George Budapest still to play at the time of writing

Huge result as St.George has APIA.

Marconi down 2-0 in 20min. Announcing coaching departures during a season is never a good idea. This could be four LLLL in a row.

Preston's first trophy in how long?

Depends if we rest or not. Another 3 games in 6 days coming up.

Wollongong at the gong is not easy even though they are struggling.
Fair to say the wheels have fallen off. Ridiculous capitulation for a club of its size and prestige. Hopefully can go again in the aus championship.

2007 was last trophy (top of VPL, won finals). First Dockerty Cup since 1992.

Good to get the win and clearly the better team today, Heidelberg's current run of form is very ordinary. Might just be hungover but felt like a bit of a boring game for a cup final at a couple points (first half of the second half), Heidelberg not really doing anything with the ball and obviously we're not going to be pushing and risk conceding an equaliser.

Crowd looked great. Seemed like a good occasion. Goes to show what can be achieved when scheduling and venue are done correctly, game is marketed correctly etc

Core player/coaching groups hearts and clearly no longer in it, already moved on mentally etc. if it’s gonna be like this better off getting new people in for the aus championship

Preston coach called Preston a powerhouse of Australian football.

(I do not co-sign the rest of the tweet which is mocking preston. I could not find the video elsewhere.)

Would 100% call them a Victorian powerhouse. Australian not really sure. Never really pulled the same level of crowds when they were national like others nor did they have a heap of on field success. Today was the clubs 2nd dockerty cup, we've won a lazy 10 of them.

Relegated into administration, 10 years away from top flight. First trophy in 34 years? Wouldn't call that a powerhouse of Australia football.

Definitely a modern powerhouse in the Victorian Footballing circles, especially with the support it attracts.
