ALM/W TV deal

Meaningless is probably the wrong word here. Irrelevant is probably the better word. It's meaningful in the sense that they are willing and able to inject money to cover costs, debts, etc. As an example CFG injecting money via Etihad sponsorship is obviously hugely beneficial. Other clubs/owners probably need to work really hard to secure a main sponsor. Having cashed up owners with proper connections is hugely meaningful. What you are saying (and I agree with), is the amount of money in an owners bank account has next to zero correlation to how expensive the squad is.
I stand corrected, yes irrelevant is probably a better word. :)

Let me guess, was this ADP fellow, by any chance, Italian ?
:) fantastico - Il Capitano
Congrats on you first positive A league post.
Maybe maybe not but since no news was as fantastico lol
BTW, the crowds were not really " huge", " big", yes. The first home game was, and of course the two Westie as well. 18,637 AVE, Season 1 and 18,682 season two. The season after he left was still 18,050. If we had a decent team i think it would have been a lot higher.
Naturally crowd growth has a hang over - Grazie Il capitano converted sum extra bum on seats.
An interesting fact was, over his two seasons, only two clubs recorded their highest crowds of the season when SFC & ADP visited.
The main fact is the merch revenue global exposure And importantly as mentioned some new sponsors - again Grazie Il Capitano for you sfc supporters:)

Real marquees do make a difference - look at Sydney FC - but so has performance on the field.

Look at where Sydney started in the first year - won in 2009-2010 and were still down 6000 on their first season. Following year missed the finals and down another 5500.

ADP comes in and they bounce back and then remain relatively strong except for the covid years in spite of missing finals on occasions.

But Yorke and ADP were real marquees - not just high priced Visa players.

When Recoba fell out at Inter and was loaned out I often look at the missed opportunity of having both Aloisi and Recoba in the ALM at the same time. As a guide Recoba market value was less than Aloisi's at the time so hugely achievable money wise. The league needs villains and personalities.

Did not realise 2025/2026 was so low at 12,389. What’s going on there? Missed the finals and?
