NPL 2026

They mention "pyramid" a lot, but is this just a rebranding and nothing else?

That is precisely what it is

is it true Brisbane Roar Youth are excluded from relegation from NPL1?

Based on tickets i've seen Heidelberg will be given the main grandstand at lakeside for the dockerty cup final and Preston will have the traditional away end.

Not sure how ticket sales are tracking for either of the weekend games at lakeside.

Marconi Stallions FC can confirm that Head Coach Peter Tsekenis and Peter Papoythis will conclude their tenure with the Stallions at the end of the current 2026 NSW NPL season and the 2026 Australian Championship Competition.

Their decision to take a break and explore a new footballing challenge marks the close of a remarkable ten-season era, during which they successfully guided the Club through more than 300 first-grade matches.

Their leadership brought major honours to the Marconi Stallions, including promotion to NPL NSW 1 in 2018, the 2019 Waratah Cup Champions, and the 2024 NPL NSW Championship, along with making a finalist appearance in the inaugural Australian Championship in 2025.

Throughout their time at Marconi, Tsekenis and Papoythis have been pivotal in developing our talent, many of whom have successfully advanced to either A-League or internationally recognised clubs.

On behalf of the Board, management, players, staff, and supporters, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering dedication and professional achievements. We wish Tsekenis and Papoythis every success in their future footballing careers.

Details regarding the Club’s coaching structure for the 2027 NSW NPL season and beyond will be announced in due course.

could explain their recent lack of form, 3 losses in a row. I just find it weird that they'd announce it so close to the final's series.

My guess is Goran Ljuboja will take on the role as head coach of Marconi and follow Nick Carle as he did from SD Raiders to Marconi.

Probably the players knew, again, wouldn’t be shocked if this also meant a changing of the guard on the field etc, potentially retirement or moving on of the likes of Jesic etc

Again, wasn’t a fan of the playing style but you’ve gotta respect what he has done well for the club etc helped with the rebuild when it was at its lowest ebb, helped intill grit etc long tenure as manager and assistant. Nothing lasts forever

Jesic on the out, Anton Mlinaric training with CCM, it will disrupt any squad, timing is impeccable for APIA and Us.

Again, nothing lasts forever, fairly long innings at one club in this day and age at this level. You just hope the rebuild and transition period is relatively painless. Always a tricky task when the club culture has been built around a core group of people for such a long time. Hopefully next bloke places more emphasis on the playing style being easier on the eye
