NPL 2026

Could be wrong, but my impression is that most soccer people around the area tend to support Sydney fc first and foremost. Dare say for many this would be a secondary team/off season hobby. They don’t really have the rusted on long term generational support many ex of the nsl clubs do, but again, I could be wrong. Again, no issue with the club itself, a strong historic long standing suburban club in their own right. Although clearly as of late they’ve been showing signs that they have ambition to be more than that

The sutherland Shire, regarding soccer, is the biggest catchment / participated sport in all of NSW, its huge.

Malvern City now just 4pts from Promotion to VPL1 with 4 games remaining 👌
They also have 3 of the top goalscorers in the whole league 1st 2nd 3rd another amazing season 🔵⚪🔵⚪ .....but job not quite done yet we move on to the next game

Marconi 0-1 St George city at home at half time

…what’s going on at Marconi, drastic dip in form starting to look like a concerning trend pending a second half turn around. The capitulation of all capitulations. From 5 points clear at the top of the ladder to potential 5 points behind top spot within a month..playing multiple opponents in the bottom half of the ladder when your sole focus is on the league and your competitors are fighting battles on multiple fronts. You’d think a big response needed in the second half. Btw have St George city beaten all 3 top teams, Marconi, APIA and Sydney united this season despite being part of the relegation battle

Full time: Marconi 0-1 St George city

Marconi have not even looked like scoring for weeks, can barely think of a clear cut chance that’s been created in the last 3 matches

Playing teams in relo places is never easy game But as you’ve mentioned.
Unreal the drop in winning form.

Look at us struggling V Olympic.
2-1 up 58min mark but we’re not playing well.
You always end up playing to your opponents standard of weaker teams - well not always but we’ve all seen it occur.

The other irony amongst all this re the turn around at the top of the ladder is that APIA arguably haven’t been in the best form as of late either

Interesting weekend in NPL ACT with Monaro drawing 1:1 at home against O'Connor who are in 8th. That's only 1 point from 6 against them this season and it may end up being decisive in the title race and qualifying for the Australian Championship. Canberra Croatia beat Juventus 4:0 and now lead Monaro by 3 points with the same goal difference (+34).

Monaro hosts Croatia in 2 weeks which will decide everything.

After today's results there is only a 5 point gap from 6th to 14th with 4 games to go.

Bottom two are done, just depends who will be gone automatically and in the relegation play-off.
It's been a wild ride following NSW NPL this year. At one point Wollongong was all isolated in 4th spot, well clear of teams above and below them, now they don't look like making finals. And Marconi... given how many home games they had left and being 5 points clear not long ago, I thought they had they'd finish premiers in a canter.

What do you even say to the players after a game like that..is there even any point yelling and screaming, if you can’t click into gear yourselves after weeks of subpar performances and throwing away the premiership what’s the hairdryer treatment even gonna achieve. Not withstanding my personal dislike for the playing style promoted under tseka. Again, reminiscent of the performance v Hellas in the aus championship final

Yes been roller coaster by the top 3….
SU were flying 1st round.
Then Marconi recovered.
Then APIA !
After dropping games to Sutho and Rockdale APIA recovered and the others dropped games again.
Been a good fight between us as always.
Marconi have had the luxury out of cup compared to SU and APIA.

Looks like Sutherland will clinch the championship spot, 5 points clear of rockdale now and in form.
Yeah we’ve been utterly shit this year don’t deserve it only have the ourselves to blame constantly dropping points to shit teams
