Was just a joke about all of them tbh... Ones that do it with taxpayers money are personally worse, but they're just as bad as each other. When it comes from donations, it's just making our political system as bad as in the US with lobbying

While they are generally all bad, I do agree, but maybe a few, (very very few) seem decent and honest

If she wants to be influenced by a billionaire and pretend to be for the battlers, yet only have policies to benefit her billionaire mate - so be it, But she needs to own it
 
What is it about declaring donations from her multibillionaire friends that Hanson finds so difficult? There needs to be consequences for her continually being late on these things, it makes a mockery of Australian democracy.

It slips her mind she was treated to the RIviera and high fashion parties. I always forget when a billionaire does that for me.

Ah actually she looks to have declared the gifts within the 35 day window. At least she complied with the rules this time and we're left to judge her on the substance of her behaviour.

All politicians update the register all the time. An example, if for an official visit the MPs/Senators receive a welcome gift then upon their return they have to declare it. If the value is less than $150 (IIRC) they can keep it otherwise ownership transfers to the Parliament.They have to declare upon return, even if the gift is provided prior to departure (e.g., flights). They have a fortnight (IIRC) to update the register.

You do know they are required to update their register on a regular basis. It's designed so that we, the general public, are aware of any potential conflicts of interest.

Victoria the sickest Australian state it seems, and probably the most corrupt also:

When the state Labor government took office in 2014, Victoria had very low debt.

However, after more than a decade of poor financial management and waste, Victorians are now the highest-taxed people in the nation, and the state is the most indebted, with the poorest credit rating.

Victoria’s debt binge has been brought about by profligate spending on the public service, which has ballooned in size, as well as infrastructure, which has been mired in rorts and CFME corruption.

Moody’s last week warned that Victoria is heading for a severe debt‑affordability crunch, with interest costs set to consume one in every ten dollars of state revenue by 2030 (up from 3.5% in 2019).

With one in every 10 dollars of revenue projected to go towards debt repayments, there will be fewer funds available for services and basic infrastructure, such as fixing potholes.

It also means that the government will try to squeeze Victorian households and businesses harder for extra tax revenue.

Last week, the latest employment data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) revealed the sorry state of the Victorian economy.

While Australia’s official unemployment rate remained steady at 4.4% in June, with more than 76,000 people finding work, the Victorian jobless rate rose from 4.9% to 5.1% – the state’s highest level since October 2021, when it was enduring its sixth COVID-19 lockdown.

The gap between the Victorian and national unemployment rates is now the biggest in decades, with Victoria’s underemployment rate of 7.3% also the highest in the country.

Victoria’s 5.1% unemployment rate recorded in June was also well above the 4.75% forecast in the recent state budget:

Victoria’s poor June unemployment figures have fueled ongoing speculation that Premier Jacinta Allan will face a leadership challenge before the state election in November.

The 5.1% unemployment figures for the state were released as Victorian teachers went on strike, with both Allan and Education Minister Ben Carroll “going to ground” on Thursday, with Allan in Adelaide for Labor’s national conference while Carroll was understood to be sick.

With Victoria’s parliament to resume this week, there is said to be growing talk that a cross-factional delegation will request Allan to stand down or urge Carroll to challenge her.

Replacing Jacinta Allan with Ben Carroll is like shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Victoria is a cautionary tale of what can happen after 12 years of incompetent and wasteful government. The rest of Australia should take heed and not become like Victoria.

I meant if they fail to update it and then go back to do it after they get caught. I don’t mean the constant act of updating.

Yes. It was poorly worded.

I meant when they get caught out and go back and update later.

For example, when they update a year later after a journo exposed their undeclared trips.

yes sad it is NCB for the rest of us generally as well.
VIC I get it from back the early days due all its manufacturing, massive Union State therefore the labor remote control/habit vote even though some carry on look at the opposition.
Well look what they keep having as well - utter train wrecks.
Holden/Ford pulled out 2016/17 - Toyota followed - the massive bulk of manufacturing and countless smaller sub suppliers gonnnne.
I know of some other small Industry manufacturer's have also gone belly up since and last 2/3yrs.
Yet keep voting Labor than worrying about politician's "gift" accountability.
Where were youse all the decades Labor kept getting away with murder ?!

Here in NSW I recall Prem O'Farrell lost the job over a paltry bottle of Grange not validating as gift.
I mean seriously what a joke, only the jealous ones make a issue of these types of gifts, I get mega thousands make an issue of but petty is petty as the OFarrell case beat up.

My father used to have his voting rules 20 years ago:

Liberal at federal, Labor at state

But I daresay that's probably changed now.

All parties sell access, there is actually a tier level system of access funny enough.

That Chinese developer son that Albo had dinner with at Darling Point must have donated some serious coin to get him to come to dinner at his house.
