Australian Dual Nationals 🇦🇺🏳️

With Chelsea in Australia, I sincerely hope that Popovic or Okon have had a conversation with Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli. There is probably very little chance that he will switch from England at youth level, but being 20 at the next World Cup, he may well see the value of playing and progressing his career. Conversations need to be happening now with a long-term outlook. Same for Jariyah Shah at Manchester United.

I've said it before - the WCQ early round would be very, very good for blooding and capping these youngsters

All you guys saying Triantis is our biggest loss, the question is, who does he get picked ahead of in the starting 11?

Aint no way hes better than any of Souttar, Herrington or Circati, or even Burgess for that matter.

And then is he better in the double pivot position than Oneill or Okon? I dont think so. Even Devlin is ahead of him, Robertson too. And so what about RWB? Isnt anywhere quick or mobile enough. So then where does he play?

Just because hes versatile doesnt mean hes actually good enough to hold down an actual spot. Reminds me of England cricket team picking all those allrounders in the 90s who were mediocre at everything lol.

For me his best position is as a single pivot in a 433 where he then drops in to becone an extra CB. The Rodri, Busquests, Milligan, Jedinak, Paartulu etc position.

Agree he could maybe have been selected in the squad ahead of Degenek most likely or even Geria, but he isnt starting or even first drop for any position. Dykes 1000% would have been picked as our backup striker behind Toure and would have played minutes above Yengi.

Likewise i think Segecic would have been picked and played ahead of Mabil and maybe Hrustic, leckie and Vellupilay.

Triantis would tidy up very well and would be more if an aerial threat than O'Neill. Triantis intercepted and ranged forward for Hibs.

2 years ago it was conceivable to have a Triantis midfield with Robertson in front of him and Segecic on one of the sides. It's so frustrating we'll never see it. Triantis also covers centre back so we can't cut Burgess and add one player further up. Add Elder and we have even more centre back coverage. Versatility gets you in.

BOH I think you've identified correctly that Triantis gets in ahead of some. It just would've been nice to have that extra depth and he and Segecic had good form we wanted to see for the national team.

Depends on the opponent

Triantis is very mobile and agile for someone as tall as him and has more defensive starch than okon with similar quality in tight spaces. I would have him as a first choice 6 when we are trying to break a team down and want to send extra players forward. Would be a key player if we want to dominate a team that sits deep and hits u on the counter

Against superior teams where we sit back im not sure

Get all these points you guys are making but popa sticks with his 343 in which case does he start anywhere over our current guys?
For me no and not even first drop. Decent squad option though as backup at CB, CM or in rare event popa switches to a sole DM pivot (Triantis' best posi).

In current system i would assume we would want someone disciplined defending in a block but can compliment okon/oniell by recieving the ball further forward

So yes i dont see him starting under poppa

I don't think Okon is part of a double pivot. His creativity needs to be more forward so he starts in front of him to start with. He is also a RB and a CB so can be in front of Miller

Dylan Leonard has Triantis covered. Quintal has Segecic covered.

The player most important was Volpato, we don't have players like him.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Dylan Leonard has done nothing. He may have Triantis covered in the future, but he is nowhere near him at the moment.

For the record any mention from me re the loss that I feel Triantis might be to Australian football when it's all said and done is not with the focus being on how he would have fit into a Popovic team.

If we didn't lose him would mean that Popovic wouldn't have been in the job and he would have been selected on merit when he was being a boss in Scotland for Hibs.

This would also mean he would be playing in a different system with possible other non-Popovic selected players. Who he gets picked ahead of in a Popovic XI doesn't even come into my thinking.

I reckon that's a stretch. Segecic topping the goal scoring charts for his Championship club as a 21yo in his debut season. In what way does Quintal have him covered?
Currently only potentially. Having watched both players as youth players at SFC.
Segecic is a good player, but we have many players like him, he like Triantis maybe the best of the bunch, but we have plenty of players like these 2, unlike Volpato or Areana or the young Chelsea star, we don't have players like those, players with the x factor.
