This was the biggest disappointment from last season. Off the top of my head we had:
Waddingham - injured
Stama - loan back to Aleague
Iredale - transfer to K2
Carter - no minutes and transferred back to div 2
Botic - injured
K Yengi - no minutes and loaned
Goodwin - no minutes

Only Toure progressed. If any one of these guys hit even 10 goals they probably go to the world cup. Instead they barely play.

Exactly.. a 2 bit local league is kinda good for our national team as the best players all leave amd have to push themselves in overseas leagues, meanwhile we have more spots come up in the local league for youngsters, overall resulting in a much larger playing pool.

It was these exact same conditions from 98- 04 that created the Golden Gen.

Yengi and Goodwin were also injured. Injuries were probably the biggest factor holding that group back. Not the only factor though.

Segecic and Sapsford progressed but were not given opportunities.

I think Waddingham was the big hope of that generation, but who knows what heā€™ll be like after 18 months of injury. Goodwin is probably the next best hope and possibly Botic if he can return from injury.

Goodwin showed flashes and I think has time to progress over the second half of the season.

Waddingham needs a good injury free run this season to show what he can do.

Botic hopefully comes back this year but is 24 so really has to jump forward or it's too late.

Jovanovic is likely overseas this summer but there still isn't a huge plethora of quality strikers coming through.
 
I'd like all 4 of those young strikers in a single camp and give them a run. September with a 3rd match would've been perfect. We have to get a battle going.

Minnows but that Nepal, Taiwan, Jordan post covid window was fun.

Josh Nisbets agent needs to be sacked whoever it is. Went to europe as a 2 time A league player of the season at age 24 and wound up a bottom of the table Ross County in the far north of scotland as a diminutive playingmaking attacking midfielder. Cannot possibly think of a worse move for him, then inexplicably moves to div 2 Holland, a league lower than the A league he dominated in.

Just bizarre
