NPL 2026

Thanks, suspected as much.

Are there any other revenue streams? Do SMFC own a social club separately that generates a bit of revenue?

I grew up nominally supporting Marconi in the old NSL (though my passion for them was somewhat tempered by playing against their youth teams as a junior, who were always arrogant pricks). I know Marconi are able to fund their football operations in part from revenue that the social club makes, so wondering whether any of the Melbourne clubs are similar.

Not as prevalent as up north.. Venetto club and Green Gully's Bistro are the only ones in the top few flights (Im forgetting someone I just cant think now).. Most clubs have a social club of some sorts, SMFC revenue stream from our's isnt enough to fund the first team, let alone the juniors set up or women's program. Merch and social club takings were better during the Aus Championship and the hope is that will increase moving forward...

There is of course the "robbing the parents of youth teams" myth that gets trotted around and, while Im sure some of the funds do trickle upwards, the amounts generated after all the expenses are tallied up would pale into insiginificance.

Alou kuol joing Blacktown is an interesting signing

Deadline day transfers

Anyone know if the loan rule applies in the npl loan players can’t play against the team they are loan from

Potentially a big weekend for Olympics attempt to stay up. They’re away at wanderers, the two teams above them Blacktown and St George play Sydney United and Marconi respectively. If results go their way they could draw level on points with Blacktown and within 1 point of St George with plenty of games left to play. Would be well and truly on

Also btw despite the fact it’s been somewhat overshadowed by Olympics situation, Blacktown going down would also be a big story. An ever present of the nsw state league

Just saw knights play northcote next weekend. The result of that game could potentially go a long way to deciding the premiership of vic npl2
First time in a while we won when Northcote has slipped up but still plenty to play Juve hot on the heels and spent the $$$ on new signings
