Fuck me dead Spurs really going for it in the transfer window so far.

Van-Hecke
Fernandes
Tonali
Senesi
Robo

They’re still toilet up front though with Richarlison and Solanke.

Yeah I’m excited to see what the men’s and women’s teams can do this season with all our new signings, but then I remind myself not to have too much hope (for the men at least) as a Spurs fan. We’re still Spurs after all.

Bigger job ?
I think his cap is middle to lower tier Clubs :)
No offence just don't see him to fit in a bigger stronger club.
He won three trophies in two seasons with Crystal Palace. That’s more than Mikel Arteta’s ever won with Arsenal.

So now Spurs spend on good players who are ready. Ange got a few kids with great potential and one or two decent players for now.

There’s a part of it that all comes down to timing.

Spurs were desperate. Two 17th finishes in a row with last season almost relegating them.

They tried all different types of managers.

De Zerbi would be in high demand because of how he’s got teams playing (not necessarily for winning silverware). He probably would have walked if Spurs didn’t spend big this summer so he’s got them by the balls.

Haydon Hackney was signed by Everton before the weekend in a deal that will eventually be worth £24m to Middlesbrough....

He's been brilliant for Boro over the years and the fee we're getting is pretty decent for a Championship player.

It's going to be interesting to see where he slots into Moyes' stodgy system at Everton. He excels as a deep-lying playmaker or No. 8 who drops deep to receive, carries the ball progressively, and can work between the lines.

Moyes likes defensive solidity, set-pieces, transitions, direct play....

Hackney''s not the quickest or most physically imposing player and the step up in speed and strength could test him.

Middlesbrough had the the top possession numbers in the Championship and Hackney thrived on that.

Not really the compact, low-block defending, direct transitions, set-piece reliance and pragmatism of Moyes teams!

I would have put this in the LFC thread but thinking about it all you devotees should find this doco about an absolute Legend human being as well as footballer.
You we all marvel at some of the modern bog tracks but watch what KK did from his early days till retired - his ability and as they say reading the game.
Even Georgie Best rates him that highly.
Ahead of his time as was LFC and imagine jumping in being player manager and watch how he manages the massive issues and still winning.
The absolute wonderful devotion he has towards his Club’s and the people involved and supporters no matter who.
The game lacks these type of genuine nice people.
Glad I got to watch all this as a teen in those awesome days - I was shedding tears on the flight to Japan.

Got to feel for Toon.

In 2 seasons they are on track to lose Isak, Tonali & Guimarães.

Something's not right there.

I reckon the systematic dismantling of Eddie Howe’s spine Isak, Tonali, and now the lingering spectre of Guimaraes’ departure is not merely "prudent accounting." It is an existential retreat. While the club cites the suffocating arithmetic of the Premier League’s Squad Cost Ratio, the optics for this are disastrous.

Supporters were promised an elite project but they have been served a fire sale. By trading transformative talent for balance-sheet stability, Newcastle has sacrificed its momentum. They are no longer challengers, but a development hub, watching their ceiling crumble while the boardroom balances the books...

Amd then there's Eddie Howe himself....

He's is no longer the solution because I get the feeling that the players have stopped responding to his ways

And he’s now become part of the wreckage. His stubborn tactical rigidity and reliance on aging favourites have rendered the team predictable. By resisting modern, data-driven recruitment, he’s hamstrung the board, leaving the squad stale. He’s out of time, ideas, and, quite possibly, his depth.

Newcastle need a more progressive management and coaching team in place otherwise 2026/27 will be more of the same!
