Official South Melbourne Hellas thread šŸ”µāšŖ

My fear is something happens on Sunday against Dandenong Thunder. For instance, a crucial easy miss to score the winner, a costly turnover that leads to a winner for Thunder, or at worse, an angry exchange with the supporters.

Things could really boil over.

Doesn't make sense to let these players go if we don't have signings coming in. You still need a squad especially with Eliopoulos unknown with his injury history. Should still be 1 in 1 out doesn't matter if some have to play reserves each week. Coveny and osullivan are still young enough that any football is good football for them.

From our senior 23 ofc/npl squad we've let go inglese and Singh so far and looking like Leech. Birchmore i havnt seen in any u23 squads of late so maybe he been loaned aswell if that's the case osullivan gets promoted to take his spot Yoo takes Leech spot as an attacking mid we still need a cb and striker in the squad. If pope osullivan coveny all are going on loan we're down to a squad of 19 that includes 3 keepers. Doesn't make sense. There surely has to be some signings coming in otherwise you just can't let them go. The fact they are holding swibel tells me we don't have a striker coming in

Quality (stretch) mustve stayed in NSW bc very lil of it made it Vic or anywhere else!
He is the clubs top scorer having played less than 600 minutes this season.

Issue is these younger players who have played enough senior football, dont want to play 23's. From a personal level, Pope, Coveny and O'Sullivan are above 23's football.

O'Sullivan should be close to replacing JPA, not being loaned out!

Imagine we lost both Bonada and Swibel. Messourouni could play every minute the rest of the season! Probably what those morons are aiming for.
I agree re O'Sullivan. Has always done really well when called upon. South have handled these young players terribly. Telling them they are going to be loaned out, then that they are required and now just confusion hence why a lot of them are leaving not on loan but on a permanent basis.

Dovison another who has proven what he can do for the club scoring some crucial goals yet put out to the wilderness (not sure if loan or permanent). A lot of other u23 also seem to have left as I haven't seen killick skapoulas papadimitriou or the 2 agelatos brothers in the u23 squad for weeks now.
I was told Dovison wasnt a loan (by another player at South Melbourne), but not from Campbell himself so cant 100% confirm that.

In a healhy/proper SMFC front line he wouldnt even get a look in, thats the truth, its not just about having scored some, more so sometimes its about ones role on the field and in the team, swibbel has proven he was not the striker we needed, at times even proven a liability!

Fortunate for him not MessiRooney type liability!

Firstly, loaning players for their development is a healthy part of football for both the player and the club.. the need for a proper strategy, and lack there ofn is to blame here... secondly, this is teething in a year that no one knew what to expect, lets be fair about it, if the same thing happens again then its a problem, this is a learning opportunity for next time round!

The majority of them should be on loan for a season for solid game time especially if they are ab9ve u23 playing levels, it will further show let us see who can rise to the top imo, this experiment of them playing NPL as a team was a massive failure, showing they werent ready just yet, atleast not collectively. We all know which shouldve been kept to compliment the senior squad, problem is some of them dont seem to have been and thats the worry!

This has the makings of the most extreme outcomes. We either absolutely nail the transfer window with some seriously talented acquisitions, or we fail to land signings and deplete our depth by mass exodus of young promising players. There is no middle ground. Its all or nothing.
