FIFA eligibility rules

Yeah it’s just a shame that millions of Moroccan kids growing up don’t have locally-produced role models to look up to. Maybe they don’t care that much given the diaspora are still culturally connected to Morocco and play for the Atlas Lions wearing the Moroccan jersey, but it gives out the message that if your family wasn’t rich enough to migrate to Europe that you’ll never be an Atlas Lion. That shouldn’t be the case, since other African countries like Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal send local talents over to Europe rather than purely being diaspora-focused.
I’m glad some people noticed this for the crap that it is. Ok, there are colonial vestiges and all, but can’t Morocco focus on home grown talent?

But FIFA with their stupid rules opened the can of worms

Harry Souttar, says hello.
He wasn’t getting picked for Scotland though. That’s the key difference. Achraf Hakimi is one of the best full backs in world football, therefore he would make every squad in the world, including Spain’s. Therefore, he should play for Spain.

Morocco tries to pick any man (their women’s team haven’t caught on yet) with a drop of Moroccan blood in them. Most other teams pick the ones who couldn’t make it. Otherwise Cody Gakpo would be Togolese and Virgil van Dijk would be Surinamese.

Jason Cummings, says hello.
So does Lyndon Dykes, Adrian Segecic, et al etc etc x1234 personal padlock

Every nation can and would do it if they can. But there's a very big difference between a player here and there, and the whole bloody squad. Going through this years World Cup squad from Morocco, there are 9 players (out of the 26) that have what I would call proper ties back to Morocco (in the same way you are tying back to Scotland), eg - played in, or was born in Morocco

The 1974 Socceroos, also say hello. Only seven, of the twenty two were born in Australia.

Jason Cummings would’ve been even less likely to get picked for Scotland. He literally plays in the ISL at the moment.
They migrated to Australia. And how on Earth would’ve a bunch of players based in the NSL make squads for other teams on the other side of the planet back then?
There was no NSL back then, tells me everything i need to know about you.

BTW , Jason Cummings has been capped by Scotland. But you just keep jumping in, thinking you know it all.

And even look at the youth teams too. So many kids are getting swooped up. Some may never be good enough and some of their current senior national team aren’t good enough, but at least wait till it’s obvious.

Going back to my example of Suriname, let’s use Lakeesha Eijken as an example. She played for the Netherlands at under-17 and under-23 level whilst playing club football in the Vrouwen Eredivisie in the Netherlands, the BWSL in Belgium, the Tercera Federación in Spain and now the Vrouwen Eerste Divisie back in Holland. The Leeuwinnen are one of the best teams in Europe, so there’s no way she was making the Dutch squad. So, earlier this year, she switched to Suriname at the age of 24 and cap-tied herself after débuting in a Champions Cup qualifier loss to Haiti. That’s a good example of a player waiting then deciding.

All we ask players to do is be more like Keesh. Especially in Australia where we lack a huge player pool. England don’t care about losing Michael Olise even though he’s obviously a glory hunter, but we care a lot about losing Adrian Segečić.

That I made a simple mistake because I was born 24 years after that tournament?

And clearly wasn’t good enough. He barely even played for the Socceroos.
