I don't think you can play Kovacic-Modric together in 2026. Gvardiol was a disaster, he doesn't look ready to play. Tribina guys talked about Panama's long diagonal balls being dangerous and they still got caught out by it. Also makes the omission of Smolcic even worse when you only have 2 fullbacks in the whole squad. Baturina was great and the midfield should be built around him.

I expect a very cagey game against Ghana where nobody wants to make a mistake.
 
Sweden vs Japan - Tough game for the Swedes, maybe they can eek out a draw.
Scotland vs Brazil - Park the bus and hope for a draw or a narrow defeat.
Croatia vs Ghana - Potential biscotto.
Algeria vs Austria - Another biscotto?
Paraguay vs Australia - Tactical 0:0 draw.
Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia - Can they get it done being the protagonist? Let's hope so :)
Belgium vs NZ - Should win but don't underestimate the Kiwis.
Czech vs Mexico - Ready for Cancun holiday.
Congo vs Uzbekistan - Clear favourites here for 3 points.
Ecuador vs Germany - Great defensive team but impotent attack, it doesn't look good for them.
BiH vs Qatar - Slight favourites but no Muharemovic and their midfield is mediocre.
Senegal vs Iraq - Had a tough draw but I still think they have a reasonable chance to turn this around.

You can tell modric, kovacic and gvardiol have played fuck all football in 2026.

They can't be starting together. Sucic from inter milan needs to be starting, with Baturina who's been our best this tournament.
 
Good to see Cristiano respond, he needed that after the first game.

England were so bad against Ghana, I think they could struggle to break down deep block defences especially that they didn't select players like Phil Foden and Cole Palmer.

Colombia are looking good, the game with Portugal will be a beauty.

I would bet Petar Sucic comes in for Kovacic against Ghana. Then sub Kovacic for Modric who probably can't play 90 minutes. I like Luka Sucic but he doesn't really have a position here and is wasted on the wing.

Interesting how they threw Luka Vuskovic under the bus when Gvardiol has been much worse.
 
With the 3rd place finishes it might encourage teams to cancel each other out and hoping 3 or 4 points is enough to get out the group.

It will be interesting 3rd round of matches and who will go through and go out of the tournament.
