The Big Bash League privatisation attempt is an ongoing train wreck. Carriages continue to derail as the belching locomotive pushes on.

The sensible option was to find the emergency brake when three states rejected the idea, but chief executive Todd Greenberg barely paused. Like Casey Jones, he was hell-bent on getting the mail delivered. “The project doesn’t stop,” he said. “We are not pausing; we will look now for some alternate considerations.”

Been so busy with work of late that I just wanted to lie down and have the test cricket radio on in the background. Need that pace sometimes.

The number of wickets a batting team is permitted to lose in a T20 innings should be reduced to six. The best bowlers can only bowl four overs in this format so the best batters should also be curtailed

Administrators must mandate that a minimum of 3mm of live grass be left on all T20 pitches. This minor adjustment would provide fast bowlers with genuine lateral movement, seam variation, and true carry, forcing opening batters to respect the new ball.

Adjusting the lbw law so that any ball that is going on to hit the stumps, no matter where it pitches, is out.

Greg Chappell believes that implementing these changes would immediately breathe life back into the middle overs, bringing the art of placement, hard running, and defensive tactical awareness back into vogue.

I agree totally with all points. Time T20 became a fair contest between bat and ball and not just a shooting match for power hitters. Not all cricket lovers want to see this.

Same I agree with Greg Chappell on this one.

Completely agree about it being time T20 became a fair contest between bat and ball.

The lack of that contest has turned me off ODI's in the last decade or so too.

I never have enjoyed seeing the power hitting and the plethora of sixes that come with it.

The last limited overs fixtures I enjoyed was the 1999 World Cup, it has become ridiculous since the turn of the century.

Australia won the first heavyweight clash of the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup after routing the Saffers for 107 at Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday. Going for a seventh title in the 10th World Cup, the Southern Stars posted a battling 8-172 to win comfortably by 65 runs. Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry starred with the bat, while our spin trio cleaned up with the ball.

A refreshing red-ball mindset anchors the fierce simplicity of Australia’s newest centurion.

Cooper Connolly produced the innings of his burgeoning career on Sunday night against Bangladesh to guide Australia to a narrow ODI win.

I've been thinking it for years that youngsters like Connolly & Konstas need to be plying their trade in the English county system than chasing the big bucks in the red cordial pyjama game that is T20. They need to experience different conditions to make them better Test players.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen has sent a timely reminder to the national selectors of his T20 prowess by smacking the highest individual score in Major League Cricket history for Washington Freedom. Featuring a whopping 13 sixes and 11 boundaries the Tasmanian, 24, massacred 155 from only 68 balls against MI New York at Dallas’ Grand Prairie Stadium.
I have footage if interested.

With the World Cup for football on, and with the Socceroos' biggest game on Friday against Paraguay, just can't focus on cricket ATM!

As soon as the WC is over, I will!
