FIFA WC 26 - Other Nations LIVE Match Thread ⚽

If they win they will be topping the group so shite or not it puts them in a good position to go through
Scotland will only be topping their group at the conclusion of matchday 1 because Brazil and Morocco dropped points but they'll probably go through as one of the eight best third-placed sides with a crucial three points today.

Brazil seem to have lost the flair they have had in the past.

There has been debate in Brazil about Europeanisation of their game, with all the players playing in Europe.

Morocco has improved! It was a pretty even game.

Morocco were semi-finalists at the 2022 WC in Qatar. They're a very good side. A lot of their players play in Ligue Un and they're a very 'European-ised' team.

What makes them so formidable is that they blend this European tactical rigidity and peak physical conditioning with the fierce, passionate playing style and national pride characteristic of African football. They aren't just an African powerhouse anymore, they're genuinely a global one..

I knew they came third in Qatar.

They’ve improved a lot since 10 years ago. I wonder if it is a Golden Gen? Or whether they can continue being a decent side?

I don't think Scotland can outplay either Morocco or Brazil to be honest but they've got enough to scrape at least one draw out of those two games and I bet that's exactly how Steve Clarke planned it.....

If Brazil have another wobble against Haiti and Scotland get a draw against Morocco the jocks might even fancy themselves to get another point in their last group game...

Although the heat in Miami could be a factor.

A traditional "Golden Generation" usually implies a sudden, accidental clustering of world-class talent that eventually ages out (think Belgium over the last decade).

Morocco is different. Because they have dual supply lines – homegrown academy graduates matching strides with elite European-born dual nationals they have created a self-sustaining cycle. I think they have officially transitioned from the status of an occasional "dark horse" to a genuine global powerhouse.

Congrats Scotland. Did a quick watch. The Morocco European select are a good side.

Really looking forward to the Dutch v Japan game. I’m predicting a draw say 2-2.
Japan's World Cup opener against the Netherlands will be a close game but bear in mind that Japan have managed to get the job done over European opposition in their last three matches including wins over both Scotland and England in March.

I mean, did these two hydration breaks help us today?

Just amazing scenes for Curaçao. Ball going through Neuer's fingers is the icing on the cake after being recalled and ruining the camp atmosphere.

Nico Schlotterbeck scores in the 38th minute for Germany to give them a 2-1 lead. Nathaniel Brown with the assist.
